Re: FMB Fanclub
Morning,
Well Jack is out and about again today, an old wives tale says that the frost will kill germs, so we should all be fighting fit this morning lol
There are quite a few xmas ads on TV now, well it is only 6 weeks off lol I do like the Argos one where everyone is rushing about, that's about just how it is lol
I remember when i was little the two ads that stick out in my mind were Tick a tick a Timex tra la la, everyone was happy with a Timex watch then, now it has to be Rolex lol.
Then the Babycham ad with the little deer, it's still going today, don't know who drinks it these days, but it's not bad with a drop of brandy in it.

Hmmmmm I might to invidual mannekins filled with water cress and prawns tossed in garlic butter and served with rustic bread, but my mum at 84 won't eat it, although not to worry cos she only eats her main meal anyway. She's really only eating side plate size meals now. So I might run with that idea.

Scrummy! But my brother in law doesn't drink (because he used to drink far too much a long long time ago) so can't even put sherry in his trifle, much less port in his melon lol. I don't use chicken liver, I use pork liver, and get the butcher to mince it for me cos when I tried to do it myself I blew the motor up on my processor. I don't do technical very well, as you may have guessed lol.

I love my pate too Wendy and have made my own, I don't like messing with raw chicken livers lol I have to cut all the iffy bits off. I start with 1lb of livers and end up with about 1/2lb I can use lol I also find it very filling and am in and out of the kitchen doing the toast (we like the toast hot)
I don't like prawns, so as for the melon, you cant beat 1/2 a melon middle scooped out and filled with port lol delish and not filling and you get steadily tipsier with every course

I've got to get to the butchers to order my turkey crown, might have beef as well. Starters is either home made tomato soup (easy) or pate (lovely but the smell of minced liver makes me heave). There's some debate about dessert, I want it to be a Marks and Sparks chocolate brownie, but everyone else is insisting on individual trifles (why did it turn out so lovely last year, I'll have to make them again now) or the scrummy Nigella version of old fashioned choc cake. Might give in and do both.
I love prawns Saph, prawns and melon is lovely, but I'm in the minority with that in my house.

I don't need to enhance them with coins the quality speaks for itself he he he

Seriously though the reason I do it, is a) because one of our friends started it with homemade wine to everyone and b) I genuinely enjoy making them.

Morning all, Well I've made my Xmas Cakes (need to decorate with nuts and cherries then finished, and the Puds are done as well). I make 8 of each 'cos we give them away to our friends (its a bit of a tradition that I've built up over the years, a purely selfish one as I love making them and the smell of the spices etc in the house in October is so lovely).
Not that worried about having a Turkey to be honest, might even just have a great big Chicken and either Pork or Beef alongside of it.
Can't decide what to do for starters this year though. Will probably be something with Prawns as I have loads of them in the freezer, so would be stupid not to use them.
