  • Re: BT again!

Well everyone, if proof persistence is needed I am your person!
    Talk about dogged persistence.
    Did some more research.
    1) Sky and plus net both want upfront payments for "new" line £15 and £30.
    2) Talk talk want an upfront payment of £35
    3) PO , you have to be persistent good job its a free call, on hold, again, did eventually speak to someone yesterday but got cut off, today again someone with poor understanding.
    4) So back to BT still very cross and made it clear I was so now got a deal, back with them and I can choose my DD date but despite the "charge" they are so fond of think I may stick with paying off on the bill payments on my banking so all in all a most frustrating experience, can we flag up these hidden changes to account charges on here, they are being very sneaky and I think that most people will not realise it, especially if you are still in a contract. Customers are supposed to be getting a letter or e-mail soon giving them a chance to cancel, without penalty, within 30 days of receipt of same but if anything like last time I did not.:okay:

Hey DT, you've been brilliant over this - what a little Rottweiller you are at heart lol!

I'd suggest you start a nice thread headed 'Hidden Telephone Charges - What They Don't Want You To Know' or something like that which will catch the eye. Maybe give some advice from your current learning experience and what you need to look at (and where) to find the hidden charges.

Possibly a link to the sites would be good.

Just a suggestion, but I think you're the perfect person to do it with your recently gleaned knowledge, and I think you'd do it really well. (Hope the halo is shining brightly now lol)

I will try to do a new thread and have this one as a link, in Telecoms again?
Laptop is better at saving links.
I not done being cross with BT and still have phone numbers and e mail address from last year when a different issue went to CEO.:tinysmile_kiss_t4:

Press the 'Report Post' triangle (2 to the right of 'Blog this post' at the bottom left of where you post, and ask site team if they will split the thread - state which posts you want moved and why.

The report button isn't only for reporting abuse, it's for this sort of thing as well - a direct line to site team.

That's not the BT Sport channel, just a tease for the real ones. There are 12 (?) channels in all. I can't remember the numbers but it is supplied over the internet and viewed using the Youview box.

Are these the ones that I've got free for one year by plugging my Sky box into my BT router?

I realised reading this thread that by signing up to the 'free' sports channels, I've committed to another 12 months with BT which will, of course, tie me in to their price rises.

Accident or clever timing? You tell me.

But somewhere in BT's T&C it says that if they do something during the course of your contract (eg up prices) they will inform you 30 days in advance and if you wish you can cancel your contract without penalty. Or it did a couple of years ago when they failed to advise me of an increase and ended up giving me 10 months at a price even lower than the original contract

Condition 54..Except in the circumstances detailed in paragraph 51, if we let you know about a change to the price or the terms and conditions of a service which is to your material disadvantage, you will not have to pay a charge if you decide to end that service early, unless the Tariff Guide says otherwise. However, once we have told you about such a change, using one of the methods detailed in paragraph 50, you must let us know within 10 days that you want to end that service by giving us the written notice set out in paragraph 21. Only the services that are directly affected by the changes we make can be ended without paying an early termination charge for that service and this agreement will continue to apply to any other services that are not affected by those changes.

My problem with that is I get an electronic bill so I'm informed by email. If the bill looks about right, I don't tend to scrutinise it too much. I don't read all the other bumph with it. If they emailed me saying 'Notice of Price Increase' I'd read it. I'm unlikely therefore to know about a price rise until it's too late - my fault in a way, I know, but they should also make these things more obvious IMO. :beagle:

Exactly! I only found out when they changed the date on my last bill.
Did not want sport in any event.
When you do the price comparisons, as I have, they do vary and so does, BT! You may get a different result.BT do seem to "hide" information dont they!

On going, BT call centers remain inconsistant and in one case very rude and aggressive.
Also connection has started to fluctulate again, dropping broadband connection or speed.
Done all the checks twice, once with "help" desk, he told me it was a fault on the exchange, due to "severe" weather?
We did have a bad spell last week but this did not tie into this :flame:

                              Hiya DT,

sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you, work has been absobloodylutely manic, plus I am now working full time, so poor Mr R is literally getting hiIloveyouimgoingtobedseeyouinthemorning as a convo now

Sky: we are with them, bit pricy but it works, have the landline and the BB with them and no complaints really

02 BUSINESS broadband: well I will admit I work for them, haven't really had any issues with them, and they are 02 not sky. Prices start (for full all in package) at £38 ex vat. might be worth looking in to.

Talk Talk: this is strictly personal opinion here.. I would rather poke my own eye out with a rusty fork then take out their packages. In fact I think they should come with a siren that screams RIP OFF DETECTED... RIP OFF DETECTED!! (Please don't post vids of folk poking their eyes out CC, I really don't wanna puke )

Plusnet: Good plain talking Yorkshire Broadband.. plain talking in the sense they make it plain you wont know about the hidden costs and extras you get hit with!!

P/O : Not had any complaint I know about

                              Tesco: see above

Virgin: works if you can get the advisor to understand what it is you want

                              Hope this helps hun

                              P

                                Thank you Puff.
BT are still playing silly devils, may be able to end contract early due to price rises, however they want final bill paying first.Must do that within ten days of e mail, but also found out they have put restriction on line, if I was not able to check e mail here I would not be aware, cannot help feeling it is deliberate.
So once grandsons are in school will pay outstanding amount, if neccessary ask for further MAC code and look again.
I was put off PO due to long wsits on help line and them now being managed by Talk Talk.
At my daughters and will look again when I get home
