Re: Post up and share your examples of spam phishing emails messages #scamaware
I regularly get ones to do with a new message on LinkedIn(never click on direct link)
Or it's a voicemail that comes via Whatsapp(yes I have it but NEVER use it).
Not sure if you have heard about James Veitch but he is very very funny: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_QdPW8JrYzQ

I guess they probably rely on people not being savvy enough to check the email address !Originally posted by fightbackninja View PostThe Handheld Device Email Phishing Scam
This one has been sent out by the millions from a range of email addresses.
The title is 'Do you use a handheld device'
Then a picture of a credit/debit card scanner.
The big sales point for this device is that it works by linking to your mobile phone so can be used anywhere not just in restaurants and coffee shops etc. with wi-fi or landlines.
But its just a phishing scam designed to get your details.
The scammers don't care that you can see they are sending from email addresses such as healthy-breakfast.org which is obviously nothing to do with payment devices.
The links that supposedly go to information pages about the machine in fact go to phishing pages.

The attached file may or may not contain a virus or other malware or may simply be to get you to contact the sender so they can start to determine your full details for scam purposes.
This example includes poor grammar which may be because of a low level of literacy or that English is not the scammers first language but is more probably a way to weed out intelligent recipients and ensure that only the most gullible reply to the phishing message.

Re: Post up and share your examples of spam phishing emails messages #scamaware
I did follow up one last year concerning a legacy I could inherit from a person the " lawyer " was representing it was guaranteed to pay $1,000,000 + for claim to be a relative of the deceased who had the same surname as mine.Originally posted by Kati View PostI wonder if anyone has ever bothered to follow one of these up (just to see where it would go :lol
I got into a " conversation " with the " lady lawyer played it a along for a few days until she thought I was hooked then " All You need to do is transfer £3000. into the lawyers account so she put my claim forward " played it a bit more got the bank details etc. had a relative who is a bank manager to check the codes for the account and guess what it was in Nigeria where as the lawyer was in Wisconsin where her deceased client allegedly live.
When I e-mailed to tell her she had been sussed I got a rant to end all rants accused of lying to her she was jabbering what a presume was Nigerian abuse.
Even then a couple of days later she/he/it tried to persuade me she was genuine.
Details passed to AF.

Hello
People
Message body
Good day,
Please accept my greetings and i hope this messages meets you well today.
My name is Shirley Underwood a 57 years old widow. I'm a real estate consultant & developer in Ireland, that is what I did for a living until I developed a terminal illness that is making me not practically fit to run my business that led me into winding up my business 3 years ago and moved my capital and profit to a storage firm in USA due to the fact that my late husband was from Buffalo New York with the perception of distributing the funds to the less privilege as I'm an orphan myself or support businesses that require funding especially in real estate though other businesses would also be welcomed.
The purpose of this email is to propose an investment plan to you using my funds with the security company in USA. Regardless of where you are, in or outside the US, I will be willing to support your business on the basis that 30% of your turnover from my capital given to you would be used for charity donations. This is absolutely risk free and requires no payment to acquire. I am doing this because I have less than 3 months to live .I therefore need a reliable fellow to champion my course by receiving this funds, investing it in private business and donating 30% of profit generated to the less privilege or if you are not into any business, you can receive the funds as my next of kin and assist me in distributing it to the less privilege but you must be honest ,do not bother responding if you are not honest or sincere but if you are Reply me to this email if you are interested for further details.
With my best regards,
Shirley Underwood
