I'm new to this and I'm hoping I've posted this right.
My sister (21 years old) has become the victim of fraud that involved a car advertised on Gumtree/ ebay. On 22nd May 2014, my sister saw an advert for VW Golf on Gumtree for £2500. She enquired about the car and received a response from a woman named Eva Beck. That same evening the advert from gumtree was removed, my sister assumed because she was buying the car, Eva removed it. Eva confirmed the car was in Exeter and will be shipped to her. In her email, she was adamant the payment was to go through ebay as she had an account with them as it was secure and would protect both parties. My sister agreed to this and went ahead with the sale. She made an initial payment of £1000 on 30th May 2014 and the balance of £1500 on 2nd June 2014. Payments were made to Alberto Lissandron at TSB Bank Plc. Following payment, Eva confirmed in her last email the car would be delivered within 48 hours. Four days later, no car has materialised and having done some research on the net, I told her she has been scammed. We immediately contacted the police who advised her to report this to Action Fraud, they have provided her with a reference number. She has also contacted HSBC (on 7th June 2014) and explained what has happened and requested that they freeze the transfer of funds/ return the funds. Instead she has been informed there is nothing that can be done as the money had already reached their account and as she had authorised the payment it isn’t classified as fraud. My sister is absolutely devastated by this experience.

Simple solution.... all we need to do is get these fraudsters to 'Stop Paying Poll Tax' and the Full Force of Her Majesty's Goverment will be on em 'Once and for All'. And in the mean time, I'll continue to text the B'Stards (07407 265925 & 0203 290 1565) & waste their attentions on myself. This current thief is the 7th one I have come across on e-bay alone. Jokes aside, I thinks we need some kind of 'Police Service' to be started in the UK. You never know, It may just work...!Leave a comment:

To others reading this thread, I also advise you to change your eBay password and any other accounts such as banking, emails, etc if you use the same password for those and keep a close eye on them for any suspicious activity. Also be aware that you may be contacted out of the blue offering to recover your money for a fee, again this is a scam usually carried out by the same person. You may see an increase of spam or phishing emails in your inbox.Leave a comment:

Hi firstly, despite your chosen username, do not think you are an idiot. These people are extremely clever and resourceful, thank you for having the courage to come forward, many do not.
If you have seen the horse box advertised elsewhere I suggest you let the advertisers know as soon as possible so it can be removed.

Hi There,
I was scammed just before Easter. Saw a horsebox advertised on 'Horsemart', contacted the vendor for more details, 'she' said that she would only sell through ebay for fear of being scammed. I was invited to the ebay auction using my ebay ID, there was a 'live chat' box to answer questions and I even purchased a vehicle check document to make sure that there was no outstanding finance etc on it - it was so cleaver, I believed that I had checked out things as much as I could to make sure it was legitimate - obviously not. The fact that the account was Barclays actually made me feel better and so I duly paid the money and unsurprisingly nothing was delivered.
I have reported this to Action Fraud, my bank and Barclays but not much is being done - as seems to be the case.
Annoyingly the same vehicle is still being advertised on various websites - I am tempted to make contact with them again and try and somehow get some info, but as I was stupid enough to be scammed, I am unlikely to be able to outwit them...Leave a comment:
