I would route the agreement out just to be safe, there is no argument then.

Well, it's now 8:45, so he's unlikely to come now. As andy58 says, dig out the agreement and it can be gone over to check things out.

And what about the automatic number plate recognition thing? What if I get stopped?

            You wont.

They cannot size a vehicle whilst it is in use, if you are worried carry the agreement with you.

I'll thanks. My youngest has woken up with all the noise and brother coming etc so just going to get him back to bed then get the agreement back out.
Do I just await a response from my email to the company? I have re emailed and said I can offer an additional £100 now so £159 altogether now and the rest in 2 weeks.

do the bailiffs have a certain time allowance enabling people to pay?

thanks, I'm a little calmer now I know I can get to work etc, should I park the car out the way for the next two weeks?

You could also use the legislation:

Taking Control Of Goods Act 2013 - Section 10 (2)

                (2) Where an item which belongs to the debtor is in use by any person at the time at which the enforcement agent seeks to take control of it, the enforcement agent may not do so if such action is in all the circumstances likely to result in a breach of the peace.
You didn't happen to see that BBC programme about bailiffs last year did you?

What would breach of peace mean in my circumstances?

No no I didn't see the programme.

my youngest is nearly asleep so will find the documents soon

If you were out shopping for instance - it would leave you stranded. Even more so if the kids were in the car. Or if they tried to pull you over (not that they have the power to do so!) and tried to force you out. Things like that.

Ok. So will I be ok to park on drive until I've paid or not?

You could park on a neighbors drive or on waste land if there is any, they can only call between 6am and 9pm , but you should ensure that you notify them and ensure they are aware of the fact that the car is under a HP agreement, perhaps send them an email in order to get a record of the fact.

It's a conditional sale agreement, do I need to know anything else? Read small print to see who owns the car?

Just found it. It says the following-
you will become the owner of the goods if you comply with the terms of this agreement AND when you have paid the total amount payable under this agreement. Until then the goods will belong to us even though you have possession

Yes - as long as you find the paperwork to check it is on HP.

Well, you can't get clearer than that! Yes, it's safe to park on the drive.
