    Hi all,

I am having trouble writing a letter to court. I know what I need to say and ask but not sure on length and things. The letter is to request removal of anxiillary orders after 5 year period has passed with time remaining (no black marks been good all way through)

so the problems / questions. Should it be a page long condensed and straight to point? should it be detailed and longer to show thinking and details of past, present and future? Can I include letters of support and evidence?

First impression I know is important so I need to have this spot on and make sure i don't miss anything.

Thanks for any and all help and look forward to your reply.

    Hi & Welcome

It may be that to remove such orders a formal application has to be lodged with the court. I'll tag in Diana M as if she doesn't know what you should do, she'll potentially know whom else to bring into this conversation.

It may well be a good idea to see if there is a local solicitor close to you offering a free initial consultation that perhaps you could visit for advice.

      Hey

Thanks for the reply. i did go to the crown court to check this. There was no formal application form they said and that a formal letter should be written to the court and a copy handed to relevant parties.

I think a cover letter, concise and to the point, accompanied by a longer statement ( laid out like a witness statement ) along with your evidence, would be a good idea. http://hub.unlock.org.uk/knowledgeba...d-court-order/ has a list of what you should include. Bear in mind I don't know what your order is for but have gone off your mention of being over 5 years but with time remaining, and crown court. I would expect it will be the same process for other types of ancillary orders in criminal cases. I'd definately try and see a solicitor, maybe at a law centre, maybe after you've done a draft of your application to look over it so you give yourself the best chance of succeeding. People like http://www.unlock.org.uk/ might be able to give some guidance too and they seem to have a lot of info and guidance across their websites.
