  • Cabot has instructed Mortimer Clarke, advice needed please!

    Hi everyone,

Hope you're all doing well. I've just joined as i came across this site via Google.

I had an 'alleged' debt with Vanquis for approx £2500. I sent them the 3 letters etc and they sold the debt to Cabot. I sent the 3 letters to Cabot to their PO BOX address and they instructed Mortimer Clarke solicitors who are threatning court action. I have received a letter from the solicitors stating 'potential legal action'. I read that when sending letters they should always be sent to the registered address not the PO BOX address. I have now sent letter 1 out to Cabot's registered address.

Where im stuck is how do i respond to the solictors as it's their first letter. Do i send them the 3 letters as well as the pre action letter?

Any advice is really appreciated. Many thanks :-)

As Mike says, forget the three letters thing, its rubbish, and send a standard CCA request as he has linked, directly to Cabot, with £1 and you can respond to Mortimer Clarke stating you have done so ( once you've posted a copy of the letter should be able to give you a hand replying)

When did your Vanquis account default ? Is it still showing on your credit file ?

Was it defaulted with Vanquis when you started sending the letters to them?

Any dispute on the account at all ?

(you mention a pre-action letter - if you can post a copy of that too pls - not sure if thats something you've been sending to vanquis/cabot or they've sent you? )
