      Add a paragraph that says
The defendant does not recall every receiving a notice of assignment and puts the claimant to proof that a notice was sent according to the law of Property Act

The claimant is requested to prove their ownership and rights to bring this claim by providing the notice and deed of assignment

Just put (in your own words)

The Defendant believes that the Claimant's claim is statute barred via section 5 of the Limitation Act 1980.
The Defendant requires the Claimant, should the Claimant claim otherwise, to provide evidence to the contrary.

          Something like that.

                    You should put something like
Each and every allegation in the Claimants statement of case is denied unless specifically admitted in this Defence.
at the top (make it para #2)

and at the bottom, just above the statement of truth
It is denied that the Claimant is entitled to the relief as claimed or at all.
                    (Like I said, long day!)

Just the defence, flicky. Supporting evidence is not needed at this stage.
You could send via MCOL or email (as an attachment) if you want.
