Do you think that will be the end of it or are they likely to surprise me at a later date?
Whilst it might be possible that RLP has understood the clues provided by the Oxford case - link 1, link 2 - it may be more probable that they have chosen to concentrate their exertions on victims who won't challenge their claims.

Do you have proof that Tesco received your letter?

Apologies the attchements still aren't fully working - it's a big issue and we're trying to fix it with limited resources. Anyways I have uploaded the image here www.legalbeagles.info/member_images/Scan0007.jpg so you can read the letter.

Although it would be immensely satisfying to make both parties squirm, I think all the OP has to so is either ignore this speculative invoice or if he must respond say something like," I do not acknowledge that there is any valid claim, the incident is closed as far as I am concerned."
                  They never pursue anyway

I think this from right at the begining if the thread, is probably the best course.

I think if you must reply something along the lines that you do not believe they have legal cause to pursue damages as per recent case, Ms B etc.

Would it not be better to state that the OP does not believe the claimant has a valid and quantifiable claim, has failed to provide evidence that any actual loss has occurred, that the OP is legally-responsible for such alleged loss, that the amounts being claimed do not represent actual loss but speculative amounts that would put the claimant in a better position financially as a result and do not comply with the ruling in the case of Dunlop Pneumatic Tyre Co. Ltd. -v- New Garage & Motor Co. Ltd. 1915. If RLP claim otherwise, let them produce the evidence. If they fail or refuse to produce evidence, it might be advisable to warn them that any attempt to bring proceedings might result in an application to strike-out being made on the grounds that the proceedings are an abuse of the legal process. Comments, please, before OP does anything else.

Yes but you would be making them get their books out, i don't think that they would pursue this, and to be honest i don't believe anything you send them will make a blind bit of difference to what they do.

I think that as long as the OP has made it clear that he is not going to accept a default judgment, and he contests the charge on the grounds that his acts caused no significant losses to the retailer.

That is pretty well all he can do, it fulfills his obligations under pre court protocols and says to them, put up or shut up.
