On the letter they do advise me to seek legal advice. Is this normal? If I did seek legal advice, what would they advise?

You'll only need legal advice if they make a Court claim, a company did try once, but loss. The likelihood is 'zero' as the likelihood is they will lose again.

... and all this stress over a £3 pair of earrings!

Just keep ignoring them. Eventually they get tired of wasting their money on postage!

Ignore it, they've clearly got the printer working overtime.

Read that letter carefully, and have a laugh!

This firm who specialise in "recovery" for their clients, who in previous letters have threatened you with dire consequences if you didn't pay their extortionate demands, are so desperate they offer you a discount! ,,,,,,,,,, and if you don't pay they may pass it over to another firm to try and collect it.
That outfit won't have any more ability to make you pay either

Their list of options does not list the one I would follow i.e. ignore

I haven’t received anything until today. I’ve now received a letter to recover the money from a company called Scott & Mears. I really thought it was over and I wouldn’t receive anything else and now I’m back to worrying again. It says for me to contact them within 7 days

Don't panic, don't contact them, have a read of the following thread -

                  https://legalbeagles.info/forums/for...o-recover-debt

Update the thread if you get meaningful correspondence, to date you've not received anything meaningful.

Funny really as RLP set themselves up as a specialist recovery company, but when they fail they instruct a debt collecting company who have no more power than the man in the moon!

                      As advised "IGNORE"
