I need to cancel as I can no longer afford it as my wife isn't going back to work since having the baby, I have completed one assignment but haven't got any time to complete the others. I've rang trading standards consumer advice helpline and they have said to write a letter requesting to cancel and then wait for a reply.
It's good to hear from other people on here in the same boat but I definitely regret signing up as a lot of the information wasn't clearly explained.

I'd suggest you keep on writing to them ... I'm not sure what else you could do :sorry:

just checked and the agreement number is the same as the college number

There's only one field for the registration number so it must be one or the other

Then I'd personally go with the course reference ... I'd say the 'agreement reference' will be for your loan agreement (not your course ID)

so ive sent my cancellation slip in the post to trades gateway and have called both the finance comapnt and tradesgateway to enquire about cancelling my course.

the finance company said that the only way the course would be cancelled is by contacting trades gateway and cancelling with them and any outstanding funds would be refunded to the finance company via them.

spoke to trades gateway head office and they said that they are unable to cancel the course due to being outside of my cancelation period of 14 days. the guy on the phone was of no help to me what so ever he said that it is impossible to cancel the course due to being outside this period the only way is to pass the course on to someone else which i would have to do myself. when i asked if they could do this for me with people enquiring about enrolling on a course they said no. now i am stuck and do not know what to do, i am considering just changing my bank account and not speaking to them again as they are absoloutely useless! i explained my changes in circumstances and there was nothing from the guy on the phone.

any help?

Unfortunately, it looks like the only way to cancel these courses after the cancellation period is to carry on requesting it in the hopes that they will eventually allow it as a 'gesture of goodwill' ... You could try complaining, but I'm not sure how successful you will be
Why do you want to cancel [MENTION=55518]mikelloyd[/MENTION] and [MENTION=55735]Thomas145[/MENTION]? Is it just because you feel you will not have the time to complete the course now? Have you done any of the coursework?

I would assume it was the course reference ... although I'm not 100% (maybe it would be better to include both - just to make sure?)

Please keep everything in writing with these companies - a paper trail is ALWAYS a good thing!!
Send letters recorded/signed for (costs less than £2) and you will also have proof of postage/delivery. Or email (saving a copy of your sent email/requesting a read receipt)

So even though I am way past the cancellation period all I need to do is fill this in and await action? I'm not halting payments until I know its cancelled.

I'm not saying that they WILL allow you to cancel just like that, but I think you have got a good chance if you've given them good reasons (as per your first post). You might have to write a few times to get them to agree (I'd suggest you just stick to your guns and keep asking them to cancel as a gesture of goodwill) but it might work
