    Re: Dogtired's Barclays PPI Claim

Keep on at them about the data they have used for the calculation, DT. They have already contradicted themselves, as Wales has pointed out. Foreign call centres are pretty useless with matters like this, and it is always best to get everything down in writing, anyway.

Regarding the 'dot matrix' print-outs - they are required to provide the data in a legible form. The use of an antiquated dot-matrix printer suggests that the DSAR dept are using these intentionally in order to provide unclear copies. I think it would be worth replying to them, insisting that they provide the data in legible form, and suggest that they use a more modern laser printer for this. Also insist that the data is sent by a secure 'signed-for' method, and not just shoved through the letterbox, and that the ICO would take a dim view of all this.

Can you see from the applic. form copy you have if PPI was ticked or otherwise requested ?
Can you see a date ?

      Will do Bill, thank you!
The "application form" is very bad, date looks like unreadable/2/1997 which would make it right for my memory of filling in a form at The Boat Show.
Looks as if the Ppi IS NOT ticked though.
As well as new printers I think they need a better scanner or screen shot saver, my cheap home printer is better than this!

Should I write again to the data department to "tell" them it is incomplete?
I know the FOS said they should respond by the 11th but do they " have" too, it seems they have decided that it ends the matter.
The printer is very likely a steam-powered model, based on Stephenson's Rocket; kept in working condition for occasions like this!

Re the legibility problems, perhaps a gentle reminder that the info should be complete and in an intelligible manner, & should they fail to provide same, you'll have to make complaint to the ICO (who can fine up to £500,000)

          LOL,!
Will write again and also to complaints!
As regards the steam powered printer , I do a day at a local museum that has a steam powered boat, it broke down yesterday something mechanical to do with its bearings, maybe Sharkleys did the same! The actual statements are almost legible but start in April 2004, which was just before we moved, I did request them from my old address as well so will enclose a copy of this. The reams of dot matrix stuff appear to relate to contact and account history but still got to try and get through the rest of it!

DT - DO please be aware that the paper-clips and elastic bands are an important part of your DSAR response. They DO help to keep certain parts of their response separate - and should NOT be ignored...

They did have elastic bands/ paper clips, sorted into piles and put back, for the moment as they were!
Maybe I should send one back to power the printer!:tinysmile_hmm_t2:

                        Re: Dogtired's Barclays PPI Claim

Strange thing happened today, was in when the regular postman came so would have been here for anything else.
Logged into my e mail account and in the junk folder was one from DHL ( Barclays used them first time around).
However I was not the named e mail address, only part of the Carbon Copy recipients.
It also had a pdf file attached ( did not open as alarm bells were ringing).
It went on to say that the "package" could not be delivered due to the post code being incorrect and that I/we would have to follow instructions in the pdf in order to receive it.
If we did not do so within seven days we would be charged $2.00 per day ( yes it was a $ sign)
I did report it as spam and blocked it as I think it was more than likely to be a scam, but if not what were Barclays doing giving them my e mail address, they are overdue for the remainder of my SDAR and I did say in my recent letter that it was not a good idea just to have sensative documents just shoved through a door.
I was going to contact FOS anyway but cannot be sure if this was the expected SDAR dont they have cards to put through your door if you are out any more.:flame:

I did suspect this and it was just coincidence! Never opened the pdf as bells were ringing!

Please has any one got the e mail address of the CEO of Barclays?
FOS seem to be unable to get a responce and Barclays have not responded to my letter, all FOS suggested was to phone them!:tinysmile_aha_t:
