One of mine is going through the underwriter/insurer of the policy due to the same reason as yours, they will have been regulated as an underwriter so you will be fine there.

It will however as they stated take some time though, but they should as usual keep you updated every 2 months.
How long did it take to reach that stage di? You'd think they'd maybe be aware that if they are able to do it with one case then they can do it with another..

Mine is rather complexed and have been ongoing with the FOS since 2009, but the adjudicator I have does not have a clue, so hopefully you will get one that clearly does.
Mine is being passed on to the ombudsman for a review.
Its a long story, but I have a thread on here under Hamilton/Endeavour etc, you will see in the ppi section.

However, someone over at MSE was resolved within a short time, think within 2 months, so if you read my thread don't let that put you off.

        Re: PPI Claim rejected

        Hi there Vagabond,

I also had a car loan through college credit/PCFG, when made redundent i contacted them over and over again to make a claim on my (missold) ppi. Like you I was told the loan was £120 per month and the ppi would take it to £200 and that without it they couldnt go ahead with the finance.
So they never sent the forms despite my many requests, I ended up sending them a correspondance saying that I have asked over and over for my forms and that I couldnt pay due to losing my job so the ball was in their court.
I heard nothing for years and suddenly a month ago I get a letter from Go debt ltd chasing me for over £4000. The original loan was for £3500 and I only had 11 months of the 36 left when i was made redundent.
I am currently requesting a SAR from go debt ltd and trying to untangle the nasty little web.
I can say that it was Pinnacle that underwrote my ppi.. still have the forms with their names all over it.
I would be willing to write an account of my dealings.. and also state that I was given no option but to take the ppi or get nothing. Not sure if it will help at all but let me know.

          Re: PPI Claim rejected

Another year has passed and this is still with the FOS.. the latest 'progress' report I got from them was that the underwriter had agreed to investigate claims for mis-sold PPI from some brokers, but mine weren't among those they had agreed to look into.

FOS will continue to investigate, but its looking increasingly remote that I'll get anywhere...
