  • Cento Customer / Client Review

    Hello everybody!
Bear with me-all this is new to me so I could do with an idiot guide! I posted a message on the chatroom bit about being called by Jemma from Cento. She assures you of 98% success with getting money back - they don't deal with figures less than £5000 and then asks for £149.99 admin fee, refundable on completion. Is this all a con then? She says they are working with the Ministry of Justice so it sounds kosher but.....?

How can you claim it back yourself instead of using a company that may be dodgy?

    Thanks all

        Hey Zackkery

A very warm welcome to Legal Beaqles.

Well they told me that I was entitled to £3K back - how could they know that without investigating first if anything at all was due. They do not have access to your records with banks, mortgages etc.

You have done the right thing by coming here and honestly as Pkea says we can help you recover anything that is rightfully yours for free.

Just out of interest did you ever apply to a company called loans.co.uk?

Have a good look round the forums and if you need any help, just shout.

          Re: Cento Customer Review

hi all, i paid my £149 last week & they said they would send a pack out which i had to fill in, after i came off the phone i had a think about it & looked up cento client review on google & also looked at companies house to see what i could find about them & the registered name is different from the trading name which is not a problem but when i saked the woman on the phone at cento how long they had been trading she told me 3-4 years but they have really only been going for 11 months & they are linked in with all other companies who do the same thing (scam individuals ?). Also they told me that they use solicitors call something forbes but when i looked these up they are not solictors but the same thing that cento are.
I called cento yesterday & asked for a refund & they asked me why & i told them that i smell a rat & i think the whole thing is just a scam & thats my opinion which i am not changing unless they gave me numbers of any of their clients whi have had successes using cento & they said they could not give out customers personal details so i told him to give a dozen of their successful clients my mobile number for them to call me which he refused. I said can you give me a full refund, he said that a pack was sent out to me & once i return the pack they will issue a refund, the pack came this morning which i sent back recorded delivery & i will call them again tuesday by which time they should have had it back & i should get a full refund ! fingers crossed !

also looked at the pack quickly & for each card, loan or mortgage you want them to inspect it costs an extra £10 an inspection & to fast track any inspection its an extra £49 then once the solicitors start the inspection & places the accounts in default the payments should still be made but not to the bank, building society you pay but to the solicitor ! It gets worse !

i'll keep you informed of my refund !

potless, how did you pay them.
If you used a card then you can start a chargeback on the transaction..

Well try their own recovery methods first, but if you are stone walled then go with the chargeback.

Thats the scary thing isnt it, you received a claim form couldnt work out what to do and had a call off these people promising to get all your debts written off...giving vulnerable people false hope, way to easy for them isnt it. You did well asking for evidence of successful cases.

The extra £10's they ask for would be data protection act fees required to get documents off the lenders.

Was the pack simply forms to complete to return with all your personal data ?

yes all forms with my details for each of my credit cards, loans & mortgage but what was just a one off payment of £149 would have ended up £49 for fast tracking my loan (what they recommended) + £49 for fast tracking my large credit card bill (what they recommended) then £20 for my 2 other credit cards + £10 for my mortgage + £10 for my wifes credit card which takes the total to £287 then i would have had to start sending payments to their so called solicitors for each account they put into default, you could end up giving them thousands !

sounds like fast track to destroyed credit ratings and CCJs. God only knows how they are justifying your paying their '''''''solicitors''''''' the payments you aren't paying the lenders if they default on supplying the CCAs. There was a thread over on MSE where someone from Centos ''''''''''solicitors''''''''''''(who arent) Forbes Douglas sounded quite horrified Cento were saying they were solicitors and even more horrified that Cento were telling people to pay Forbes Douglas rather than their lenders.

So you are well out of it potless I think.

yes, just got to get my payment back hopefully on tuesday ! I also asked the guy at Cento if his solicitors which they use are Forbes Douglas & when he said yes i said to him but they are not solicitors & he started stuttering so its obviously a scam but how are they registered at the MOJ ? surely people must be making complaints to the MOJ about these people ?

Yes they are, in droves by all accounts, but they take time to act, and the only action seems to have been taken, and not even formal action or companies names publicised, is a slap on the wrist about cold calling and an advice note about misleading claims.

Come on MOJ stomp on a few of these companies NOW before any decide to disappear.
