  • Old Debt documentation

Hi All, in the happy position that as of Feb 2022 all defaults (only 1 left) will have fallen off my Credit Report. I have also not in the last 6 years made any payments nor acknowledged any debt with any companies. (At one point - seems so long ago now! - way back in 2010 I wrote access request letters etc as per template letters from here etc - but it came to nothing.) So what I want to know - can I now get rid of all correspondence of any sort relating to these various debts etc - they were credit card related. I can obviously keep some basic information on what the card was, number etc on the computer if anyone thinks I might need this for anything? My intent is that if contacted further about any of them that I will send the statute barred letter. Does this seem ok - have lots of letters etc kept from the various finance companies etc and would finally love to be read of all of this and the reminder of that period of my life!

Personally, I would file all correspondence away nice and tidy, as it's possible they may try tricks if you have to prove that's worth all the money spent. PS Happy new year.

If you do not wish to keep the physical documents it would be advisable to scan everything and zip it in to a file then upload to two separate cloud storage sites. This will mean you have a backup copy if one becomes corrupt, data is lost by the cloud storage service etc.
