Wonder if she is Common Purpose, and whether this numpty James De La Fuente is also one of their "Useful Idiots" doing what he is trained to do as in "Acting Beyond Authority" aka ultra vires, and breaking the law?

(silly thing to say because CC is just going to ask me to name a good one now)

I'd still contact your MP with your complaint, Conservative, Labour or Monster Raving Loony she may be.
I'm certain they aren't all bad even though I might personally be to the left of many conservatives I've recently been very moved and touched by speeches made by Ken Clarke and Heseltine, but I was concerned that Price-Doyle has made speeches about the need for public private partnership in public services (probation et al.) specifically naming SERCO and G4S and whether that might make her very unsympathetic to a letter from a constituent with difficulties/issues with SERCO.

Not withstanding, I do really appreciate all of the advice and guidance so many of you have offered and because of this I will be able to sleep! Thanks alot I will heed the advice and keep you posted as soon as I have a meaningfull update.

        Deepest thanks

I wonder if she attends meetings held under Chatham House rules?

I'm wondering if this thread would be of interest to the UK Column? They have done a lot of digging into SERCO's activities.

Might be worth pointing them to this thread.

                        This is a trend.

Some years ago, Oldham Council handed over it's Revenue Collection to a private firm whose performance was so appalling that Bedfordshire Council (by whom they had previously been employed), was willing to pay an astronomical sum to get out of the contract. This was reported in Private Eye.

Idiots. If they had worded the contract properly, they could have gotten out of the contract without having to incur such expense. A number of local authorities use a Default Notice System whereby if the contractor is issued with a given number of such notices, the contract is terminated without the contractor receiving a penny in compensation. The view that such local authorities take is that failure should not be rewarded.

Why haven't they done Attachment of Earnings?

It probably generates less income for the council.

John, I really hope you settle this. From my own recent experience the people on here offer great advice.

I've found these people [link removed] They were very friendly and helpful. Might be worth giving them a try as well.

From what I've read over the past few weeks there really are some disreputable councils and bailiffs out there. The Government should be doing something about all this. It annoys me that they aren't and innocent people are being hounded.
