Re: On benefits and owe council tax

Got a visit today and the other half stupidly let them in and below is what they left her.

    2 liability orders

    first one £845.13
    visit fee £24.50
    levy fee £50.00
    walking possession fee £12.00

    second £1567.78
    visit fee £24.50
    levy fee £68.00
    waling possession fee£12.00

    redemtion of goods fee £24.50
    attendance to removal fee £180

    balance £2808.41

he said the minimum he can except is £500 on Thursday and 400 per month unless he will come back and take the goods that are seized.

Just don't know what to do know as we can't afford it.

What goods were listed on the Notice of Seizure(s) he left? Did he list the same goods twice, the reason for checking this will become apparent, as he cannot list the same goods twice.

Re: On benefits and owe council tax

Im sure someone will point out what can be seized but i suspect that Magpie does not have enough goods that are seizable to raise anywhere near the money these bailiffs are after, furthermore if their income is benefits how on earth can they raise 500 in a couple of days and 400 a month about time the councils and bailiffs got real

This is typical of Bristols & Hooters. It should be immediately obvious that distress was levied mainly or solely to pay the bailiff's fees.

The "redemption of goods fee" is not applicable, nor is the "attendance to removal fee" - the bailiff added those solely to grab more money for himself.

What do your local councillors say about this?

Re: On benefits and owe council tax

The council should recognise you are vulnerable, due to being on benefits, and as per CC the attendance to remove and redemption fees are from the Brothers Grimm fee fairytales, they cannot be applied at the same time as a levy fee, again what items have Busted and Stupid listed?

Were those items listed on one form of seizure for both liability orders, or listed on two forms of seizure for each liability order?

They are being predictably stupid, but what do your elected councillors say about this?

One form with both numbers written on the top.

It is your local Councillor(s) you need. Were all those charges added at the same time?
