  • Have I foolishly 'Acknowledged' an old debt

I have an old debt that is due to become statute barred in a few months and hopefully fall off my credit file next year as it has been deliquant since 2014. A couple of months ago I enquired about ppi on past loans on the off chance, all have been paid in full except this one - one came back to say I was miss-sold and a couple to say they had no record of any ppi, and nothing from the one in question.*

My question is have I 'acknowledged' the debt? And re-set the clock for the statute barred period or with my credit report. The query related soley to ppi being taken out at such and such date but no reference to the loan or amount.

Ive tried to search online but can't find what actually constitutes to an 'acknowledgement'

Would be grateful of any advice please

The cause of action for the purposes of any court proceedings will be the date of default or the date of the last payment made to the debt, whichever is the latter. Note that the payment isn't last payment to the original creditor, it's to any debt collector and even if it was a token 1p to keep them off your back for a bit.
