  • My wage is "partly charitable"

A young lady I know works for a company that pay her a wage however insist that 4 hours a week should be working for nothing as part of a 'charitable" approach. What isn't clear is whether there is an actual donation to a charity? And whether it is clear to clients that the employees of the company they use are being paid/contracted in this way? I am worried that a company can 'enforce" this type of contract. If part of your working week is given as a "charitable donation" surely there has to be some clear sign that money IS being donated - otherwise you are simply working for free and that culminates in a reduced wage over all?*
