  • Demand for full repayment of a credit card debt incurred over 13 years ago

    Hi,

I had been making a small monthly payment towards a debt incurred over 13 years ago. The original lender sold the debt on and it must have been sold at least a couple of times over.

A few months ago a firm of debt collectors appeared on the scene demanding payment in full.

I didn’t hand over any money to them . This debt has now been transferred to a large firm of solicitors in the north known to be rather aggressive in their tactics who have written demanding immediate payment in full.

I do not wish to supply my income and expenditure details to this company. Is it advisable to restart monthly payments or should I wait for them to make the next move

I'd send them ( the current owners of the debt) a CCA request and ask for a copy of the notice of assignment first and then consider ( if at all possible ) if you can make a full and final settlement at a hefty discount to get shot of the debt.

HAve you been making these monthly payments pretty much continuously for the last 13 years ? ( no 6 year breaks at all ?) CCA Request
