  • How can I find out if there is a warrant to stop/arrest?

Around July 2016 I was accused of a historical offence against a child (my step son's daughter) - 20 years ago. I would add straight away that this is entirely false and upsetting.
In July 2016 I attended a police station and gave a voluntary interview. I heard nothing further and in April 2017 moved to France. Then in July 2017 I had an email that said they wished to talk to me again at a police station in connection with another matter (which I have no idea about). I did not reply and after a follow up email in Sept. 2017 have heard nothing since.
My question is...if I returned to UK for a holiday (by car) am I likely to get stopped when entering the country? How can I find out?

    Give them a ring,

Or employ a solsitor and ask them to enquire with them

        hi

Well...I don't really want to put them on alert if they have not done anything....
They pass on to interpol when you have missed an oppoinitment, there was someone in the news this weekend, a uk teacher based in spain that was arrested when his plane landed, becuase he didnt contacxt them when asked.

Its also about how it looks to whoevers investigating the alligations, if you want your side to be listned to, make yourself available.

These things dont go away, and the sooner you get your side on paper the better all round. Whats happening this year, is a re-evalution of alligations made over the past 20 years that wasnt dealt with at the time.

It wasn't really an appointment - just an email asking am I returning to the Uk....if so they would like a voluntary interview. Seems a bit over the top to involve Interpol...and I can travel in and out of France without issue.

No there isn't, you really need to contact the police station who wanted you to attend a voluntary interview and check with them if they still require you to attend. Probably safest to get a solicitor to enquire on your behalf and they can then advise you. You wouldn't be arrested on entry to the UK unless there was a warrant in place. Your solicitor could probably find out if this is the case as well.

Thanks for the replies but I will not be contacting anybody. Sadly, the 'innocent until proven guilty' edict seems not to apply anymore and I am not prepared to put my family through this when I am innocent, with the possibility of restraints on me being with my children - I can happily live life away from the UK. Thanks again for your time and views.
