  • Assaulted by a Private Security Contractor. What can I do?

I told this private security contractor, working on behalf of my local City Council, that he was "abusing his powers" by intimidating a stranger into giving their details for an on-the-spot fine. He then knocked away my camera with his hand and later tried to knock me off my bike as I left the scene. What should I do? The police have decided not to take it up, presumably because there was no serious harm. Any ideas? Thanks.

Complaint to the council and the company he works for. Perhaps there is a trade body?

There is an industry licensing authority covering all those working in the security industry: https://www.sia.homeoffice.gov.uk/Pa...complaint.aspx

I can't see if they are wearing SIA badges in the pic, but they should be licensed to do the job they are doing.

What was the on the spot fine for? littering? ( not that it matters really, just nosey )

3gs address etc. they don't seem to have a published complaints policy. Complaint should also be made to the Council.

The fine was for on-the-spot littering, yes.

It surely cannot be right that they hit members of the public! How can I take them to court? Perhaps it's the only way for people like this to have respect for members of the public and curb their super-aggressive behaviour. Is it wise?

No it isn't right, but quite frankly there is in practice nothing to be done than complain

If you have suffered damage from the assault you could file a civil claim.
However you do not mention any damage or injury,so how would you quantify your damages?
I note he has his mate with him....possibly not a witness who would support your claim.
Also they appear to be wearing cameras..have you requested a copy of any film?
Do you have any independent witnesses who would be prepared to support you in court?

              I wouldn't recommend a private criminal prosecution.
