There's not anything else you can do, we're just too damn big for our boots and I know I don't help matters. We'll have to declutter and unprettyise a bit and store some of the less accessed stuff on a separate server I think. But it comes and goes, and I know today I mucked things up a bit by pressing Save in the server a couple times too quickly which always seems to make it play up.

It's not a major problem Ame. Surely now LB is a company, running at a loss is not viable long term. I'm sure some of us would be happy to do something to help if there are any ideas. Lots of ways of making money, it's doing it without losing members and staying true to the values the site has running through its blood that makes it unique.

I assume we do have our own servers? If this is none of members business, just say! You know what I'm like.

There've been so many improvements to the site recently, losing a bit of speed is really not an issue. Losing a lot of speed costs - I'm sure you see similar statistics over the correlation between page load time and membership as I do.

As previously shown by running speed tests, smilies, youtube videos and large images affect the performance

So each time you moan about the speed DONT POST A LONG LIST OF NAFFING SMILIES!!!!

FWIW performance seems more than adequate right now, smilies or no smilies. I was going to add another huge one to stir Jules up but am being a responsible adult today. Oh...curses :behindsofa:

Slow here, but think the problem is this end as my wife is playing something terrible on Facebook and she's finding it slow too. It can be hard to ascertain whether it's the site or your own connection at times, even running speed tests.

Returning to being serious, yes the site is very comms speed dependent. If you are having trouble with your wife playing down your end (err....) then switch to mobile skin.

We have two PCs and the xbox running most days. I know that my net speed on the laptop is a lot slower than on his PC (that's mainly because I use a wireless connection and he doesn't I think) but my laptop's old and decrepit too :tinysmile_twink_t2:

My internet connection is very slow here as we've got no fiber optic and sometimes it's worse than others. A couple of hours ago I was having the infamous "do you want to leave page?" messages again. They've gone now.

We've got plusnet fibre broadband and I still get it every now and then .... I just say "yes" now :lol:
