  • Interview, HELP!!! - I GOT THE JOB!

I am going for a job interview on Friday with the company I already work for.
At the moment I am a relief worker, covering sickness, maternity, vacancies etc. Although I am meant to cover about 100 properties I only get shifts at one place as I love it there and find enough shifts. Until now I have never applied for a permanent position as the shift patterns are awful for me and I find enough work there doing shifts I like.

Anyway, a position has come up that is not involved in shifts.
Not only that, it is doing the best parts of what I already do.
I have been lead to believe that the job will be mine as management love my work, know I can do it etc. And I am now doing the job until it is filled. Unless I mess up completely or someone else has done this work before, I will be okay - I hope!
    The problem is the interview.
It will be a day thing with 5 others who have also applied (to see how we interact with eachother) and three interviewers (two of which are managers at the place, so I know them)
I'm okay with that, but the actual face to face on my own with the interviewers I am fearful about!
It is done on a 'even though we know you we can only use what you tell us here' and at some point I will be asked if I have any questions.

    I can't think of any!!!
As I am doing the job, what questions could I have that I haven't already asked? I won't really know any problems until they arise. I know holiday, sickness, pay etc as they were on the application form.
I don't want to look as though I know it all, but at the same time I don't want to look as though I don't know something I should!

This job means a lot to me, I know I can do it and I know my enthusiasm and experiance would be good in the role.

    Help!! Please

    Hi Sal,
Just reading you say "It is doing the best parts of what I do already".
Maybe if there is another aspect to the job or maybe a bit more responsibility, ask about this.
Or ask if the job is exactly the same as you are doing now or will you be expected to take on more, just suggestions. Enaid x

Sally, if you know how to do this job and you have no questions then just say exactly that to them.

There is a world of difference between confidence and arrogance and you don't have the latter.

          Re: Interview, HELP!!!

Maybe something like 'I can't think of anything at the moment, but if I am given the job I won't hesitate to ask' ?

No, don't say that. Just say you have no questions about this post because you know what you are doing.

lol That sounds better. I am so nervous I don't want to say the wrong things!!! No doubt I will. My manager has told me to let my enthusiasm show as that is better than anything.

Tell them the above! You don't have to ave questions but saying something like this sells yourself, don;t be nervous you are already essentially doing the job they know you they just need to see confidence in yourself.

Of all the people i send to interview the ones who do well are the ones who know they can do the job and who speak up and say that they can do the job.... if you like the interview and want the job tell the interviewer. It always impresses as long as you dont sound cocky with it.

I will PM you tomorrow with tips and hints about how to do well at interview

                      Re: Interview, HELP!!!

And you never know, soemthing might come up in the interview that you don't already know - if so, then as questions if you need to. If not, then don't - there's no point in asking just for the sake of it.

                      Good luck for Friday

                        Re: Interview, HELP!!!

My basic advice for interviews is

Remember that you are also interviewing them to see if you would want to work there

Although it doesnt really apply in your case.

I woudl just go through the motions, point out what you already do, if you know of ways things could be done better, bring them up, as it will show you are interested in the bigfer picture and not just your job.

Above all, relax, have a early night before and get there with plenty of time to spare.

                        Good Luck, Paul
