So before everyone falls out over Thatcher, perhaps an alternative 'Tribute' thread for fans, which will leave this thread for those who are just glad at her passing.

        Just a suggestion.....

If they are United then they are not but hey 12 point clear and 4 wins out of 7 to win the title and that is providing Man City win every single solitary match.

The right side of Manchester will win the title this season and it will not be blue

Wouldn't dream of starting a tribute thread, didn't say I was a fan, I just object to bad taste. Which I think this thread qualifies as.

Whatever she done as prime minister, rightly or wrongly, whether good or bad the fact is she had a mandate to run the country, which was renewed twice after her first victory. My political knowledge is limited but I believe she was the longest serving prime minister of the 20th Century. Her tenure was given to her by the UK electorate and it was on each of those occasions a working majority. We will all at some point be the victim of political decisions and we after all live in a developed democracy which for all it's imperfections has served us as well as anywhere on the planet. In a democracy that works you will never always have things as you want and it may be worth reflecting on the words, "Give us the courage to change the things we can change, the grace to accept the things we can't, and the wisdom to tell the difference" .

                          We don't.

The UK is an increasingly kakistocratic oligarchy in which the lower house seems to be populated by snollygosters and, since the removal of most of the hereditary peers, the upper house seems to be populated mainly by their cronies.

Personally I could not stand the woman and what she did to so many parts of our country, communities & people. The single most divisive PM we have ever had. Inspiring the attitude of- 'me me me' & greed. There continues to be alot of people and some communities that are still suffering with the consequences of her legacy and the things she put in motion. (lack of investment, retraining etc)

I am particularly annoyed regarding the cost of this funeral, especially during this time of cut backs & austerity, (the poor and vulnerable once again who will be suffering the most & the rich getting tax breaks). It astonishes me that around £8-10M is going to be spent on her funeral.

I agree with Ken Loach's sentiment that the funeral should be privatized and put out to tender, the cheapest bid should be taken. Alternatively, many of her friends that made millions as a consequence of her actions, could have a quick 'whip round' and easily afford the cost.
They could even sell tickets and make a profit. Some of this money could be donated to the parts of the country & people that have yet to recover

There is no such thing as public money there is only such thing as tax payers money .

As you claim to stand for TaxPayers, I would very much appreciate it if you took a principled stand again the spending of up to £10 million of our money on the funeral of M Thatcher. It really shouldn't cost more than £5,000 to bury or cremate someone in these times of austerity.

If anyone wants a big funeral, there's plenty of private money that can be attracted.

                            Thanks

I have to say that I agree with the sentiment that we, the taxpayers, should not be paying £10M for the funeral of a past PM during what is supposed to be a time of austerity. If Thatcher's supporters in the CBI, IoD and other right-leaning groups want to chip in, fair enough. But do not expect hard-working people who pay their taxes to pay for the funeral of an icon/heroine of those who do everything possible to avoid paying any tax at all. Perhaps Lord Ashcroft should be asked to stump up some or all of the cost.
Life is a journey on which we all travel, sometimes together, but never alone.

I'd rather we spent £10m on a funeral for a past Prime Minister than send in excess of £60 billion in alleged aid to Pakistan.
