Oh please! The entire monarchy costs us 69p each per year - £41.5 million in total for all of them, not just one wedding.

To put that into perspective, that is less than one percent of the £5.2 BILLION that is used up every year on lousy benefit-sponging, asbo-collecting council estate scum who contribrute nothing to society.

This is notwithstanding the profit from the Crown Estate, reported at £210.7 million this year, none of which goes to the crown.

In short, it will cost you nothing, so don't worry about it.

Revenue that will be spent propping up Ireland's and Portugal's banks.

Which disaster (for them) is what this announcement is designed to cover up.

I expect there will be street parties arranged then, just like Di's perhaps?

I did read something that after they wed - they will be living in North Wales.

This is indeed excellent news I just hope the press treat them better than charles and dianna.

We as a notion have a golden oppotunity to show the world that the uk is back in business.

And dispite what the press say I believe that katherine will make an excellent wife and future queen indeed her background has no bearing on this in fact it will help the royalty greatly to connect more with the general public.

Bring it on I can wait and please do it in westminter abbey as that will make you mum proud.

Ahh, I see you're talking about the Windsors then. "Spongers who contribute nothing to society". The only people in the country that have very large bank balances and yet are still legally able to take state handouts.

I see what you mean Shell but if we had a republic it would be President and Mrs Blair and family (or similar - perhaps President Boris and family? or President Simon Cowell?) who, with their large bank balances, would be sponging from the state one way or another! I prefer the hereditary a-political system to that any day.

The US is a good example of political dynasties that replace royalty e.g. the Kennedys, the Clintons and the Bush Clan (Bushes? Is that a Bushism?).

Read up about the Crown Estate, then post again that the Royal family contribute nothing.
