The Royal Family and the Brides family will be paying for everything apart from the security.

Whether or not you are convinced is immaterial. The Crown Estate pays back to the Government and thus to the tax payers, many times more each year than the Royal Family costs. Is that clear enough?

As for the rest of your post, are you just jealous or do you have a point to make?

Oh please, jealous, now that is really a pathetic argument. Maybe I just can't understand intellegent people worshiping people that have done nothing to earn their status. If anything, their behaviour should earn them contempt. I'm not just talking about the royals in the news at the moment, but the lot of them wallowing on the civil list.

It is not an argument, it is a question. This is denoted by the traditional use of an eroteme or question mark at the end.

You have already stated that their position is nothing more than at accident of birth, thus leading to the inescapable conclusion that it is not their fault. What would you have them do?

Finally, you clearly have a bee in your bonnet about something because as far as I am aware, nobody adores or worships the Royal family any more.

My humble apologies for the error. No I'm not jealous.

Stop the civil list for a start. Let them fend for themselves. Open all the palaces up to the tourists.

Oh and yes I probably do have a bee in my bonnet, now suddenly half the country is celebrating a marriage to be, a public holiday has been declared and no doubt street parties will be held. The only newspaper not to mention it is the independent, every other paper seems to think it's the most important thing in the world at the moment. I can't go anywhere, do anything or read anything without having those two shoved in my face.

That is the price we pay for a free press.

It will be old news soon enough and Cheryl Cole will be restored to her rightful place on the front pages of all the newspapers.

But if we did away with the monarchy the celebrities could well be Head of State!! Arnie. Ronald Regan. And thats the States. we'd end up with President Pat Butcher.

No, I reckon with our luck it would probably Katie Price.

                              Re: A Royal Wedding

Well I'm all for the Royal Family, they bring in tons of revenue with all the visitors to this country who want to see the Palaces, gardens, ceremonies et al. I must say though I do think that there are far too many hangers on and maybe the list could be shaved a tad and save us money, but that's another argument isn't it.
So what if the wedding will be costing loads, they have stated that they will be paying for it themselves apart from the security, the wedding will bring shed loads of revenue into this country and will create much needed work with the preparations and such.
                              Good luck to them.
What does bother me is that there will be two consecutive four day weekends with just three working days in between, this could be a little hard on businesses but I'm sure it will be fine in the end.

There's not going to be a public holiday for my wedding in June, nor will there be street parties or concerts up and down the country, our wedding won't be costing millions of pounds either, am I bothered ? In a word no, I will be happy with my day.
