Jack Daniels on special in Tesco, 2 x 70cl bottles for £25.

    BARGAIN

Did the icecream. The lemon curd one was lovely.

Couldn't find any orange curd, so OH suggested marmalade. Might have been okay if I hadn't put the cointreau in.....no-one told me alcohol doesn't freeze very well. Tasted vile.....

Re: Christmas Nosh and Recipes and Tips

      Hi all :merrychristmas:

I am a big fan of Phil Vickery from This Morning, and I have just watched him make a gorgeous Turkey roast potato stuffing pea tarragon pot pie for Boxing day leftovers and Irish Cream meringue cake.

These are just two of his lovely selection of chrimbo recipes. I'm gonna save these for next year...

      Have a look here >>> http://www.itv.com/Lifestyle/ThisMor...3/default.html

Me and my family are eating out on Xmas day for the first time in 20 years lol. I have cooked every single year and it will be nice to be 'waited' on for a change. There are only four of us this year, me, o/h and our two daughters. It will be a small 'affair' but we will all enjoy it nonetheless.

Oh yeah, forgot the crackers. I have, unlike my usual non-efficient self, already got various types of cheese in the fridge. With use by dates after Crimbo so no chance of them walking out of the fridge on their own before then lol.

I have also come into possession of a spare fridge freezer so no probs with storage. For the booze.

Have just sorted out my christmas dinner menu (yeyyyy) so we are having...

Soup (kids tomato - adults curried parsnip & apple)
                      ***
Smoked Mackerel salad (2 kids having fish finger salad instead)
                      ***
                      Lemon sorbet
                      ***
                      Roast Turkey
                      Ham
                      Beef

Roast veggies (carrots, parsnips, peppers, corguettes)
                      Peas (for kids)
                      Mash
                      Roast spuddies
                      Cabbage
                      pigs in blankets
                      Yorkshires
                      Gravy and bread sauce
                      *****
Christmas Pud (for one cause its horrible but has to be done tradition and all)& custard
                      Cheesecake / Lemon Meringue Pie
                      *****
                      Cheeses and Crackers
                      *****
                      Coffee and belgian biscuits/chocs
                      ****
Christmas Cake and Yule Log (like there will be room)

                      and a bottle of voddy

Lovely stuff sounds a lot but theres only 2 adults and the3 kids don't really eat so little but lots of variety, and I do like to have lots of courses cause it makes it into an occassion...otherwise starter, main, dessert is like any old sunday. And it'll last all afternoon and first time ever NO BLOODY BRUSSEL SPOUTS !!

Good idea on the tablemats will get kids to make them They been making paperchains this week for decorations and I got a fab fairy angel for christmas tree for £1 from charity shop. Am making my own crackers out of bog rolls and crepe paper and those party toys from tescos - kids don't like the bang strips and will have more fun making them - keep them busy christmas eve.

oh yes... any one know where you can get table fireworks ? you know those little pellets you light and turn into long charcoal worms and stuff .... I really really want some.

I found them http://www.fireworksarcade.co.uk/indoor-fireworks.html but they a bit pricey.

You can't not have Brussels Sprouts - That's sacrilege. I love them and could quite easily eat a plate full(mind you hubby and the others might not be too happy if I did)
