Liverpool's title bid suffered a massive blow this week when Steven Gerrard was ruled out for three weeks. Gerrard limped off in the FA Cup replay defeat to rivals Everton, and a scan revealed a torn hamstring. The injury places more pressure on Fernando Torres but a win against Portsmouth will send Liverpool top for a day at least.

Robbie Keane couldn't have wished for a bigger game to kick-start his sensational return to Tottenham, as they face North London rivals Arsenal on Sunday. The livewire striker joined Liverpool in the summer, but came back to White Hart Lane on deadline day. However Arsenal new boy Andrei Arshavin is unlikely to feature as he hasn't played since the Russian league finished in November.

Manchester City's new goalkeeper Shay Given has fired a parting shot at his former club Newcastle, criticising them for the way they handled his transfer. Given could make his debut for City against Middlesbrough on Saturday, if he can shake off a knee injury. Meanwhile Ashley Young returns for Aston Villa after a three match ban.

Chelsea will hope new loan signing Ricardo Quaresma can get their title challenge back on track, when they face Hull on Saturday, following last week's defeat to Liverpool. Leaders Manchester United have a difficult trip to West Ham and could welcome back Wayne Rooney and Patrice Evra.
