What was disturbing was in the speech by the deputy. He thanked his union for helping him get elected. I do hope that this does not mean that the party will be beholden to the unions and it will be the unions running the country rather than the party.

            P.S. I'm not anti union.

For any candidate to win on the first round with more than 50% of the vote is simply amazing. At the end of the day, love him or hate him, the electorate has spoken in a democratic system inclusive of every section of the Ballot.

For the first time in years the Labour Party has a Labour leader

                    Re: Labour are finished

That's why many people vote for the lesser of the devils = Tories. I didn't vote for either of the two main parties.

The Ghost of Liar Blairs new labour is at an end.

People are fed up of politics driven by spin and deceit. Gone now is american style politics of gleaming white teeth slick and media recomendations and lobbylists.

Andy burnham looked like Nosferatu with all that foundation cream and mascara. I am surprised he did not melt under the media lights. The other candidates in any of the hustings came accross as nothing more than the support act to Corbyn. Their scripted responses by spin doctors came accross as fake and in their own voices, yet Corbyn had real passion and conviction in his voice.

Corbyn is exactly what is needed in british politics at this moment, interesting times ahead

                        Re: Labour are finished

Corbyn is perfect for the Labour Party, the other (plastic) candidates were too 'new labour' (ie conservative), so at least the country is actually going to HAVE an opposition party now. Exactly what was needed.

                        I hope you are right.

                          Re: Labour are finished

What i like about the man is that he has stated he will put Labour party policy back in the hands of the members and out of the Omnipotent NEC .

Look how the tories are playing with out judicial system that has stood for 800 years as their own political plaything. Politicians answer to the electorate, not the other way around.

Good riddence as well to those Tory Blairite clones in the shadow cabinet.

The red Tories are free to leave. The people have taken our party back from the Blairites. Expect a few toys to be thrown from prams.

                            Jeremy Corbyn Leader
                            Tom Watson Deputy leader
Sadiq Khan Labour candidate for London mayor elections - excellent

I agree, I wasted my votes over the last few years looking for something different, looks like we will be getting that now so can vote once again for the party my dad said was the only one to vote for.
