Typically Bank Smart send these invoices out if they claim you haven't signed & returned letters of authority to consent to them acting on your behalf.
The term in their contract which they say allows them to charge for work completed in the event they claim you don't return paperwork is this:
After engaging our services (by signing these Terms and Conditions and each individual Letter of Authority) you agree to cooperate with the claims process in its entirety and therefore failure to complete & return documents required for your claim may result in a breach of this agreement and we may seek to recover our reasonable costs if we are unable to complete our services as a result.
How and when did you first get involved with them, did they cold call you?
How often (if at all) have you heard from them since you signed up with them?
Have you heard from any banks etc in relation to any claims that Bank Smart may have made on your behalf?
Have you got any other correspondence/paperwork from them?

Hi Amethyst this was possibly 4 yrs ago I have. Sent NO information at all on this matter , I've had maybe 4 letters reminding me ( I could receive £££££££s )
No cold calling , and NO letters/correspondence from any banks we are with , any letters I ever had promising us payment ' IF' we send statements etc went in the bin ...

Re: Banksmart charges
Okay so just that single letter with the 'breach of contract' and an amount - and you don't believe you ever signed a contract with them.
What did they say in replies to your hubby ?
You will need to complain to Bank-Smart first before it can go to the LO.#staysafestayhome
