  • News story: Retail banking investigation presses ahead

Since the launch of the in-depth market investigation on 6 November, the retail banking team has been gathering information from interested parties and liaising with regulators and government.
We published an issues statement on 12 November and have now appointed GfK NOP Ltd to conduct a survey of personal account customers. In the New Year the team will be conducting site visits across the UK.
See the retail banking case page to read the full investigation update.

Actually it was 16 per sector a total of 80 SME's and 20 Advisors , I know it may not sound a lot but that is 100 hours of in-depth interviews followed by analysis . There needs to be a lot of time put into the preparation to ensure as much accuracy as possible .
Qualitative research is by its very nature expensive and time consuming and generally the sample size is small ,

You are absolutely correct Jon. 80 SME's is a much more reasonable figure - teach me to look past the headline lol.

IMO it would have been beneficial if they had done some quantitative research as well to see just how accurate these findings were but that's in an ideal world and it all costs money
