    Re: BT again!

Here's a review for the PO from April 2013. It mentions an issue with the PO about not coming with a wireless router - I don't know if that's still an issue. :beagle:

Thats the one I have looked at Labman, thank you! Web site says router is free, only worry is they now seem to be part of Talktalk, had issues with the Carphone Warehouse end of them.

Eek! We'd NEVER been cut off. Talk Talk cut us off three times in 6 months. Never been cut off since. That was two years or so ago, possibly more - a lot can change.

        We need recent reviews.

          Oh dear
want to save £ will try BT again later but seems more and more providers LIE about costs.
Did some comparisons, Po, Tesco, Plusnet, all lure you in with an apparent cheap deal, then come putting in post code and phone number the price goes up. Going to look at some of those you kindly posted and will keep you up to date with progress, or lack of!

            Re: BT again!

Does uSwitch do telecoms comparisons, and does it take into account hidden costs?

I have BT line rental, Anytime calls, All you can use (40GB) internet and now pay the full price which costs me about £41 or £42 per month if that's any help. I've had no issues, but I was with Sky for years, never had a problem and it was definitely cheaper.

Why did I change? Because we decided to try going totally mobile and have no landline for a few months. Had the internet been faster we'd have stayed like that, but for big files it was just struggling. When we went back to a landline, BT was the only provider who could get a line to our village as there was no spare capacity anywhere. It was our only option.

Not sure labman, we are in the same position, only copper wires to the house, nearest exchange is four miles away but actual wires possibly longer as they wind in and out! Had to expain to an overseas call centre what "as the crow flies" meant!
Will try your kind suggestion from earlier. Just annoyed with BT and sneeking in charges for what were free services is a bit below the belt.

Yes U-switch does do comparison's now it appears I could get sky without the tv, not sure what deal it will be, all others , apart from PO have gone up once I have entered details but are still woring out cheaper than BT so far.
Looking at the BT forums it seems there are a lot of unhappy customers out there.

                  Very frustrating day!
Decided to go to PO, went on line, filled in all the bits, came to final page and got to the final page, got message " unable to complete order phone customer services"
Tried a total of four times,on hold each time, gave up in frustration and went into our PO, again she got so far then her system would not get any further and I would have to phone.
Did that, got someone who appeared to have mega problems understanding what I wanted, passed on to a "supervisor" who says the systems are down and he will phone me back.....lets see.
Does not look good does it.:notworking2"

From my experience with them from years ago (dial-up, on Serf-Time) I'd not trust Pusnet (1) any further than I can throw them.

                      (1) This was not a typo.

BT are fun aren't they? Must have spent 3 hours on the phone to them this week, in 2 sessions.

Friend of mine, a lady of 81. Intention was to upgrade to BT Sport. Openreach came to install Infinity as original broadband not fast enough (according to them). This resulted in the original computer being completely disconnected, ie no wire, from the router and no connection to the internet that the laptop could use, despite the router saying it was connected. Also functions of the Youview box were broken because of lack of internet. It was determined that router was faulty and new router would be sent. Also complained that desktop computer had been disconnected and asked for a wireless adapter to remake the connection as the router could not moved. Was asked how far the computer was from the desktop, replied "15 yards" was asked how far that was in metres. Since the maximum lead they had in stock was 10 metres they agreed to send (for free!) a pair of those adapters that connect the network via the mains wiring.

Got the router and the wireless (?) bits the next day, connected the router and lo and behold now have at least the internet to the laptop computer. Surprise, surprise. BT Sport still not available on the Youview box. More calls to support and more playing with the internet and checking the speed. Speedtest revealed just under 40Mb/s download speed! Had to do a hardware reset on the Youview box and then allow an update of the software and the settings.

At last BT Sport was working. Added the ethernet mains wiring adapter and also got the desktop computer working.

Just glad I managed to get the bits for free!! Don't believe the ads that say you get BT sport for free if you have BT broadband.

You just need to find the right people at BT to get things as you want.
