      Re: BT again!

Well sky search said they could not provided broadband at this address until the exchange had been upgraded, funny that as a neighbour can!
Going to post office tomorrow and then will bite the bullet regarding the price change e-mail (cannot remember having it as i have been dealing with this as well)

Found this yesterday as I decided to have a look what is available for me, Plusnet comes out better BUT are "owned" by BT.
Most seem to be putting line rental up some as early as the end of this month so it seems we have to be careful what we wish for!
Still going to look at post office today and ask that question as it may be a case, reluctently, of staying put.

                      Re: BT again!

Just spoken with BT, still not happy, I cannot prove i have had the e-mail and they cannot prove that they sent it, stalemate.
However, he has given me a "better deal" I can leave without penalty if I wish at the end of January next year and he will match the deal I would have had with post office (saving me £3 a month) .
Still would not recommend them to my bestest friend but will stay put for now

That's a reasonable result. At least they're matching the deal so you're not out of pocket.

it might be worth an email with this address on it

We're sorry you're are unhappy about how the price rises affect you and would rather that you stayed with BT as we believe we offer fantastic services and products. We've kept a number of our key prices frozen since December 2011 and will be freezing many of our prices again from the 5 January 2013 until 2014 at the earliest. However if you contact us directly within 10 calendar days of receiving our price change notification you may cease your services without penalty.

doesnt say it has to be an email just when you are notified.

                              Re: BT again!

this is the email I sent them

With reference to your email stating I will be charged over £170 to terminate my contract.

May I remind you that in January you are increasing your charges and as such customers are entitled to free of charge disconnections provided they call within 10 days of notification..

Price changes from 5 January 2013

From 5 January 2013 we're changing some of our Voice, Broadband and Vision prices. We'll be telling everyone from 1 September via BT Update magazine (usually included with your paper bill) and via email for people who view their bill online. Following the price changes we'll be freezing a number of our key prices until 2014 at the earliest.
We know that no one likes price increases, which is why we've kept changes to 5.9% or less for Voice and Broadband and we will freeze prices on monthly line rental, UK landline calls, BT Broadband, BT Infinity, Vision Essential, and the Unlimited Anytime Plan from 5 January 2013 until 2014 at the earliest.
We always try to help reduce the impact of price changes. For example, with the Unlimited Anytime Plan you don't pay set-up fees or UK daytime pence per minute charges, so avoid any increase on these prices. And even at its new price the plan will remain cheaper than Virgin Media and TalkTalk's standard calling plan.
We also offer Line Rental Saver, where you pay for a year upfront and get an equivalent monthly price of £10.75. This means you can save more than £56.50 over a full year on the new line rental price.

I was made aware of these changes yesterday and cancelled my contract within 10 mins of discovery, therefore I will NOT be liable for termination charges to my account, as per your own promise on your website (attached).

                              and I recieved

Please accept my apologies. I hadn’t realised you had received the below email. You’re absolutely correct about not being liable for termination charges if you contacted within the timescale stated below.

I’m really sorry that your experience with BT wasn’t an enjoyable one. I will get your case closed down at my end now and we won’t contact you any further.

Thank you Puff, did try that, but Labman thinks its a resonable result!
Other providers are putting prices up as well and he has promised that if, in january I can get a better deal elsewhere they will either match it or I can leave without penalty.
