my partner received a fine from parking eye. his daughter had been working for a local retailer and her car had broken down in their service yard. the following day she took his car to work, left his car in the service yard she uses, while he took her car off to be repaired no more than 2 hours. she is authorised to park there without a permit despite it being permit holders only on signage, however, he received a fine from parking eye. we have explained to them twice now that she was authorised to park there, given them her name and registration, but obviously his reg number wouldnt have been on any white lists as she was borrowing it for a few hours. parking eye have rejected the appeal and it has now gone to popla. popla have now sent all the bumph from parking eye with their proof, etc., and given him 7 days to respond. what can we do from this point?? we are really worried about this as my guy has only just got back into employment after 5 mths out of work, so money is beyond tight for him. i have read to ignore their fines, but there has been a recent case of someone being taken to court by them and lost. thanks

Re: parking eye fine
well sort of. its my daughter that kept my car with her while i was getting hers fixed, and it was parked at her work. i supplied her name and registration number, thinking they would check it off from a list they had or something like that, and supplied her employers name for them to check with, but parking eye didnt make contact with either of them. but the issue is more that they are chasing for the fine at all, whoever is liable

Re: parking eye fine
I would like to respond to the operators evidence as follows :-
The signs provided are unclear and only the largest text can be read. The signs as per Parking eye v Beavis and the BPA code of practice must be clear and legible. They are not on the evidence provided. Neither is there evidence that the entrance signage complies with the code of practice.
The driver, as assistant manager of Farmfoods, is a permit holder. The signage confirms that permit holders are allowed to park and there are no restrictions, as far as is readable.
The requirements of the code of practice for ANPR cameras are
“You may use ANPR camera technology to manage, control and enforce parking in private car parks, as long as you do this in a reasonable, consistent and transparent manner. Your signs at the car park must tell drivers that you are using this technology and what you will use the data captured by ANPR cameras for.”
The signs do not say what the camera data will be used for.
