Just Criminal law and tort in Year 1? Which institution is this?

Anyway, even if you have not yet had to pick up a contract law textbook, I suggest that you read the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012, and inform yourself of what it says about recovery of parking charges.

We're doing a llb, and doing civil along with torts and yeh 1st half was mostly criminal. I know I've seen other unis, some do lots in 1st year, some don't. Huddersfield does contract, criminal, legal system, law in society? And public...and I'll give it a read.

Maybe we'll get a case where you can show off your knowledge of the rule in Rylands v Fletcher!

There's alot in freedoms act I didn't know. Will for future ref though thanks .
I've not seen that case before..closest I've seen is a car rolling down a hill smashing aa building and 2 peoppe diving out of the way and claiming damages.
Rylands v fletcher looks like they were liable as the contractors they hired negligently overlooked sealing up the shafts and as they own the land the water escaped damaging the mines...that's case seems better than our car claims cases

Also bone up on Parkingeye v Beavis (2015).
These parking companies & their tame legals love to misdirect themselves when invariably referring to it.

Btw, there's no mention at all concerning the ubiquitous spurious add on charges made for debt recovery in that case.

                    I wonder why?

Brilliant news, emailed confirming the case has been closed and they have cancelled it.

Good news, but do keep that email safe for the next 6 years (limitation period) in case they "forget" and sell the "debt" on to a DCA
