bit of a m/a geek here!!

having a best friend and 2 brothers who do it, plus 3 "neices" and 2 of them are instructors i get grades drummed in to me.

I cant do it as well, mainly upper body now, but there was a time I could clear the ticket barriers at Fenchurch Street Station, and the help desk counter

I got to 4th Kyu in Judo and used to teach kids the "gentle art" as it's known (You wouldn't think it from the way they throw each other around.), but they used to love it. And I used to get a lot of satisfaction seeing a timid kid start classes and see their self-confidence grow week by week. It's also a great way of keeping fit.

well my little girl knows how to protect herself..
she knows not to shout help help but to scream FIRE at the top of her lungs, she knows get run room and flag down the first car, preferably one with POLICE written on it and 2 great huge policemen in it, and she knows to only use it when needed.

Well I did no martial arts. Getting back to CC's post though, I know how to kick someone in the goolies. I guess once you've done that, you've time to wack him over the head with something hard!

slap round the ears, knee in the wotsits and a good push on the back.. one bully on the floor. or a good hard stamp on the foot, make them dizzy cos thats where the brains are, grab the collar and pull...

yesterday we had a big family dinner and the door went, and The Bloke went storming out (every family meal for the past 4 weeks we've had charity collectors, or buy double glazing etc) so he yanked open the door and went WADDYAWANT?!?! CANT WE HAVE ONE MEAL IN PEACE?

For years I studied marital arts. Got covered in bruises and broke or fractured every bone in my puny body. I just gave up in the end, and realised I was never gonna be any good at it.

We're still married - but we don't talk much, now.

On a more serious note.

Some years ago (10?), I went to the defence of a lady who was being attacked by a thug.
Nowt much, just pushed him away (quite hard - he ended up on his backside!) & told him where to get off.
Turned out he was a minor - god knows what they were feeding him, he was huge!
Parents complained (my guess, for the compo), I was arrested & charged.
It didn't go to court, as the family disappeared abroad. All charges dropped.
I've always wondered, though, would it show on a CRB check?

Well done, that man. As you were not found guilty of anything, then you cannot be said to have committed any crime, so I would have thought the answer was no. Bluebottle will have a better idea, though, I'm sure.

i think its gone now, especially if all charges were dropped... where BB when you need him!?!?

Unless its enhanced disclosure, working with yobbos, i mean young people, or the elderly and vunerble (have you ever seen an elderly cockney woman look after herself.. the results aint pretty!) then I think it will show.

If you go to Australia, you have to disclose it as they dont have cut of periods, but i think they class it as a self defence.

Three pool balls in a sock, whacked round the guys head usually concentrates the brain, let me know I can send a couple of Essex boys up there, they like a bit of sport.

Seriously though, I suggest that your sister tells her solicitor to go forth and multiply and get herself one who specialises in Family Law, if she's on benefits then non of this should cost her a penny.

yeh Hubby offered to pay for her to get a solicitor, she refused as we have 3 kids to feed (her words not mine). I'm waiting to hear what happened with the police, if i was nearer he wouldnt be doing this, like all cowards hes scared of other men.. and women that can stand up for themselves!
