Hi. So Overdales have responded with the following details:
Lowell reference XXX – original creditor BT plc – current balance £179.90
We can confirm that this account was opened on 18th November 2017 with a sports hardware tariff. The application address used to open the account was XXXXXXX which we have notes as your own.
The last payment made to BT plc was on 26 February 2018 for £32.49. Services were disconnected on 23 May 2018, the airtime debt value at the time was £77.72. An early termination fee of £102.18 was applied to the account credit reference agencies were notified of the default on 26 September 2018. Based on the information provided, our client remain satisfied that you are liable for the full outstanding balance.
What do I do now? They have given me 30 days to respond.
Thank you for any advice you can provide.

If it was a one month trial taken out on 18th November 2017, why was payment made on 26th February 2018?Originally posted by Pavao17 View PostHi. So Overdales have responded with the following details:

This is from 4th November 2017, we need to know exactly what you took out.Originally posted by Pavao17 View PostI took it out for one game but they may well have debited another two months before I stopped it. It’s a long time ago so I don’t recall what I paid but I do know it was not meant to be a long term contract.
Thank you
Unfortunately BT are a 'law unto themselves', they pretty much do what they like.

Services contracts (such as yours) aren't covered by the Consumer Credit Act 1974, so no point in requesting a copy of the agreement. The default drops off after 6 years.
You need to write to Overdales. Something along the lines of (if that's what happened), make sure you get Proof of Postage -
Dear Sir / Madam
Thank you for your previous correspondence.
I have located the BT promotion page for the Sky Sports package. I provide a link which you can access -
https://web.archive.org/web/20171104...sport/packages
I opted for the 'Watch on Sky TV Only' Package. which I believed to be for 3 months. My misunderstand and confusion comes from 'Get HD Pack Free for 3 months', where I believed the contract to be for 3 months as a Trial.
I missed completely BT's mention of a '12 month contracts' for 2 reasons as highlighted below -
a) the '12 month contract' information is discretely located on the left hand side of the page, very easily miss.
b) it is in a totally different colour, light grey, it is almost invisible , and very easy to miss.
I believe this is against the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) guidance on advertising and promotional activities.
I'm minded to bring this matter to the attention of the ASA and Trading Standards.
Further, I cancelled the service after 3 months.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours faithfully
(you name)
