  • Letter advising of County court action

    Hi

I have recently received a letter from a third party co. who claim to have been legally assigned my debt from a credit card started 20 yrs ago or more threatening me with cc action if I dont pay up. Last payments were made last year when I discovered that the debt had been sold to this new co. They are not the original creditor but are asking for the full amount to be paid after they had reduced it to induce me to pay. I have no contract with this co who have recently been handed my debt from another collection agency; (I have not replied to them at all).. who have been hounding me for nearly a year now. Do they have the right to take me to court and how likely will they follow through with their threat. The sum is a fair amount in the low K's.

The account has by the sounds of it been sold to a Debt Purchaser who is now chasing you for the alledged debt, this is a business legal move, the purchaser now owns the alledged debt.

you need to deal with the situation as you could end up with a back door CCJ, now give details of who/when/amount/default date etc? have you requested a CCA1974 from the current owners? CCA Request
