I have received an attachment of earning from on behalf of Cabolt financial (uk) limited.
    please help.
I was fooled to registered with a company called skilltrain by their agent who came to my house in 2008, she said the cost will cost me £2700 and i set up a direct debit .
she promised that they are accredited with so many company and i will get a job as soon as i finished the course.
the course is computerised accounting which has many modles.
i started in april 2008 and set up direct debit of £90 a month with the hope of securing a good job as i just graduated as an accounting graduate then with no practical experience.
they said there would be practical trainig and help from the tutor.
so i started the program but i discovered that the course material were not good and i couldnt get help from the imaginary tutor online.
i paid £900 and i stoped the direct debit when i discovered that they were not real.
a company called Career Development Finance sent me message that i owed them £1800.
Later i stated receiveing phone calls and letter this year from Fire, Merlin, Cabot Financial and Clerk Mortimer Solicitor that i owed them money the sum of £1800.
i have been ignoring there letters and phone calls i received a CCJ from Nothamington county Court and last week attachment of earning from County court.

When was the last time you paid anything towards or acknowledged the debt??

Oh dear. Unfortunately unless you have a good reason for having not defended the court claim you wouldn't be able to set it aside, unfortunately ostrich doesn't cover it. Did you actually receive the court claim from the court, or just the judgment order ?

What does the judgment order say ? Is it an order to pay forthwith or by instalment ?

They will have applied for AoE if you didn't pay the amount as ordered within 28 days or make any of the instalment payments ordered.

Did you try to cancel with skillstrain at any time or make a complaint when you realised the course wasn't living up to your expectations ?

THanks the judgment order says i should pay the claimant or reply if i want the judgment to be set aside, which i did not because i doubt the originality of the form from St Kathrines house in northampton, i thought it was afake until i received tha attachment of earnings letter from another county court closer to my city.
I did contact the skill train but couldnt get hold of their administrator, thats was why i stopped the direct debit and they stoped sending course material to me.
later in 2009 i got an e mail from Careed Development Finance that i owed them but i ignored thier e mail as i did not know much about them, they said they have already paid my full course money to skill train, which i knew nothing about.

Okay. You've sent back the AoE form ? If you don't want to have AoE you will need to get in touch with the claimants and negotiate payments - I don't know your circumstances - do you own your own home for instance ?

Did you get anything back from skill strain confirming the cancellation of the course?

Always check court letters by either ringing the court or posting on here, or any other decent forum really.

If you want to check, if you still have doubt over the authenticity of the documents then ring northampton - county court business centre, give them the claim number from the paperwork and ask them the status of the claim.

When you take out finance like this, you get the products from skillstrain and the finance company pay skillstrain on your behalf, then you repay the finance company - so regardless what you do with skills train after the standard cancellation period you should keep in communication with the finance co as well as the supplier.

thanks i did not get any letter from skill train that i cancelled the course, i called the court yestaerday and they said i have to fill the form since theyve got judgment against me, that was why i filled the AOE yesterday and posted it.
i didnt get this forum on time i would have joined before everything got messed up.
so i cant do anything other than to pay mortimer clerk with the accrued interest.
the total money the court asked me to pay is £2170, i am in deep shit?

No, they will take your financial circumstances into account.

''The officer will take into consideration how much you need to live on i.e. food, rent/mortgage, essentials and bills. If you are a low wage earner, it might be that an Attachment of Earnings is rejected. You can ask the court to suspend the order if you don’t want your employer contacted. If the court agrees you will be ordered to pay the creditor direct. If you fail to make these payments, the creditor will request a re-issue of the Attachment of Earnings and the order will be sent direct to your employer.
                      ''

Just put it down as a very tough lesson learned.
