I have received a letter from Cabot financial enclosing a statement of account and a notice of arrears for just over 2k. It gives the original lender as Barclaycard & the b/c account number. I do remember defaulting on a b/c many moons ago and receiving various debt collector letters but nothing further in well over a decade, also no monies has been paid since default. They conveniently left the date account opened & closed box blank.
I rang Barclaycard just to get some info and the only thing they could tell me was the account was opened in Aug 1996 and was sold to Cabot in May 1999 and any queries I need to take it up with Cabot. My credit file is spotless clean.
I guess they must be hitting on hard times if they now after almost 15 years decide to write! Should I hit them with the SB letter?
