    Hi L/B

A letter came this morning from cabot regarding my SAR, which reads
"Thank you for your letter etc. We are currently compiling a file in relation to your personal data. We intend to provide your information in the form of an encrypted CD. Please be adviced that cabot may not hold information such as your credit agreements or staments on file. n order to obtainthis information, we recommend you contact the original lenders ( then listing Barclaycard as one of the lenders) who will hold this information as the original data controllers. However, in the event that the original lenders have supplied Cabot with this information, the documents will be included with your SAD"

This is the first time I have requested a SAR, is this correct, any adcvice plese
    Thankyou

    Re: SAR and Cabot

    Interesting.
I wonder if Cabot are finally moving into the Tech era

I bet it's cheaper for them to scan and burn to CD then copy documents, hey it's certainly greener.
Be interesting to see what they do finally send.

They have prob burned out all their printers lol

I bet it's cheaper for them to scan and burn to CD then copy documents, hey it's certainly greener. and easier for them to change things to suit themselves I bet
It will be interesting to see if it is scaned pics of docs or the docs themselves that are on the disc too

Cabot, should provide to you the information that you have requested in paper form. If, they wish to supply an additional encrypted CD, that is up to them.
However, it would be rather arrogant of Cabot to assume that all general consumers are IT literate!

In any event, the SAR information held by Cabot about the account in question would probably be very little...

I don't think there's any obligation to provide the information in written form. Personally I'd rather have it on CD

Depends upon which type of filing system the relevant information was kept.

Many general consumers do not have computers!

Sending SAR information on a CD would prevent some individuals from accessing same.

                      Hi L/B's
Received the SAR on a CD today,
I'm not sure what to make of it, their are four accounts held by cabot, they have obtained a CCJ against them. There is no record of default letters, a list of about 11 represntive genetic lettes with no details, could be to anyone about anything.
Copys of court papers with copies of their incorrect witness statments, with all the wrong information, dates and account figures No letteres of assignments or agreements, I would say it was a load of gobligoosh.
Do you think i hve a case for the FOS.
                      thanks

                        Re: SAR and Cabot

That's a tricky one, as if they have obtained CCJ's, presumably you must have been informed of their intent to take you to court at some stage. If you did not attend, then a CCJ is almost bound to be granted. Unless you had a good reason for non-attendance I would imagine it would be hard to challenge these.

However, the technicalities of lack of default notices etc... may well give you grounds to do something. I'll leave that for someone more knowledgeable.

Not surprised to hear that they have little else other than template letters...

Can you recall if you ever get a N1CPC from in from either a court or bulk centre? ? ?

copies of their incorrect witness statments, with all the wrong information
apart from your name on the the outside of the CD or envelope is your name, account numbers or personal details on any of this

                            As Angry Cat says
check with the CRA's (all 3, Experian, Equfax and Call Credit) to see if any defaults or CCJ's are registered also check to see if the dates match up, if you have not done this already

Trouble is, Registry Trust charge an astonishing £8 for a service that probably cost them 10p.

For full details of ccj's plus all credit information, get the basic statutory credit report from, say, Experian for just £2. The link is:

                              http://www.experian.co.uk/consumer/s...ry-report.html

Don't be tempted to pay for anything else - you'll get exactly the same data, albeit in a prettier format and some extra background information. e.g. the 'free trial' works on apathy, and to get the free report you have to sign a DD mandate at around £15 a month.
