  • Ruthbridge - some help please!...

    Hi Amethyst ,

I need some assistance as these DCAs don't seem to want to stop.

    So here is the story:
    1. At some point early last year, Cabot had written to me claiming that I have an outstanding debt to MBNA which I did not acknowledge.
    2. In April last year, I wrote to them with a CCA request and the statutory £1 fee and gave them the 12 days to respond.
    3. They responded saying that they needed more time (cheque was cashed), and after that time had elapsed, I never anything from them, until....
    4. On the 4th June 2019, I received a letter from Cabot saying that the account reference has been passed onto Ruthbridge (who also supplied a letter in the same envelope as the Cabot letter) stating that I need to call them etc and all correspondence must be with Ruthbridge going forward.
    5. I responded on 17th June by sending another CCA letter, this time to Ruthbridge, with another £1
    6. Yesterday I received a letter dated 18th June from Ruthbridge, saying that they acknowledge my CCA request and had passed it onto Cabot and returned the cheque. But also in the same letter, they had asked me to confirmed my date of birth (Compliance Act 2018) and also to call them.

What do I do from here?

Many thanks in advance for your help.

Hiya xxx Ruthbridge usually only get sent the debts that cabot don't think they'll be able to collect on. I'd happily ignore them, You have a CCA request in with Cabot ( The owners of the debt) which they haven't complied with therefore Can't enforce so I'd wait for Cabot to write to you again and then reply reminding them of that.

Any idea when the MBNA debt defaulted or was last paid?

Did they actually say Compliance Act 2018 or Data protection act 2018?

Yes they did specifically mention it.... What is the implication of this? What do I need to do?

Ok it is the DPA - good. No need to respond you only sent a cca request to them.
