A certificate of satisfaction only applies if you pay in full AFTER the one month 'grace' period, and the CCJ will still be in place both on the record and on the OP's credit files, I very much doubt the certificate of satisfaction would make much difference to lenders who come across a CCJ on record. :mmph:

    http://www.trustonline.org.uk/unders...satisfied-ccjs

    Satisfying the record

Lenders look at information from the CCJ register when deciding whether to offer credit or not. Getting a mortgage with a CCJ, for instance, can be difficult.

If the register shows you’ve got a CCJ and haven’t paid it off, it’s even more difficult to get credit.
If you pay a CCJ more than a month after the judgment date, it stays on the register for six years. There is no way to remove it.
If you've paid the CCJ in full, however, you can apply to have it shown as satisfied by showing the court your receipt. If you can't get this type of proof, the court will write to the person who won the CCJ.
If I got this correctly, the OP is still within the one month period during which the CCJ can be paid off, wiped off the public record and not recorded on their credit files, in which case no-one will ever know about the CCJ. :tinysmile_kiss_t4: There's quite a significant difference between the two:

There are some options to remove a CCJ from the Register or have the information on it corrected. These include:
    • Paying the CCJ in full within a month If you do this, details of the county court judgment are removed altogether from the register.
    • Paying the CCJ later You can get a certificate of satisfaction, in which case the CCJ is marked as satisfied on the register (but stays on it). Anyone who checks it will know that you have paid what you owe.

It has proved prudent in the past to obtain written confirmation that a Judgement has been met within 1 month of date the judgement.

        Hi all,

I've actually had a total rethink of the situation and having spoken with National Debtline again, I've decided that a debt relief order looks like my best option. I've got over £12k of debts that I have no means of paying and a CCJ to be registered in 2 weeks if I don't pay in full which I can't. I even made SLL a fair offer to settle before the CCJ time window expires and they declined.

So I'm thinking a DRO will sort me out once and for all (as well as screwing over the scumbags at SLL who will get nothing now). Has anyone got experience of going through a DRO? National Debtline say it can take several weeks to process but I'm a bit concerned SLL may get the bailiffs in before the DRO is approved. Anyone know the realistic time it could take to go through?

        Thanks

Ok so National Debtline can't even accept my application because they're too busy to process it!! So I've gone with Step Change now. They have made everything seem so hassle-free so I'm quite pleased I phoned them. They also told me if bailiffs are instructed after I've told SLL I'm setting up a DRO, they are acting illegally and can be heavily fined!

But again, has anyone had experience or know people who've gone through with a DRO? I'd like to hear personal experiences of it.

It would take some time to get the bailiffs in, they would need to return to court to get an enforcement order so you should be ok
I think a DRO is a great idea and doesn't cost much.

              Hello Highwire,

I know a few people who have been through the DRO process and everyone said the relief from the stress and anxiety was incredible!
Follow the Step Change advice and you should be fine.

Thanks nem and bernie. I've put up a strong fight for the last 18 months and had a lot of success in getting some charges refunded, payday loans written off, compensation for harassment etc, but now I have this CCJ and still some larger bank debts to fight, I'm thinking the battle could go on for many more years with limited success from now.

So this DRO should put all of it to bed and after 1 more year I'll have a clean slate, no more hassle and can start my life again!

Thanks to everyone who helped me in this thread. What an up and down 4 months it's been!

Just make sure that any of the debts/accounts have a " Final Figure" and that nothing else in the way of fees/charges or late transactions are likely to crop up later.

                      Good luck!!

Exactly. Fire-fighting individual debts can be stressful and exhausting if there are a lot of them. And if you don't win them all, then you are left dealing with bailiffs.

You aren't giving up by opting for a DRO, you are just refusing to play this particular game any longer.

You are exactly right DC, I got to a stage where I enjoyed dealing with the low life DCAs, but I am getting tired of it now. I especially can't be bothered to deal with Mark Bryant at SLL any longer. He's been stalking me on here as well... he emailed me the other day addressing me as 'Highwire' just to try to aggravate me or something. He went on to say DROs aren't always successful and tried to put me off doing it! Any more of that and I'll have him done by the FCA.

So glad they're getting nothing now. If you're reading this Mark, I did warn you!

Thanks again for the help you guys have provided!
