    Yes.
You might even be successful with a cheeky lower 'without prejudice' offer .

Ok, great. What’s the process for that?

WP offers (or sometimes 'WP save as to costs') must be a genuine attempt to settle the matter out of court.
If that is what you want to do, write to DCB Legal, reference the claim no & any other refs, head it Without Prejudice (or ....Save As To Costs) & make a realistic offer in order to draw a line under the matter. I would probably work the term 'ex gratia' into the offer. Make it clear that no liability is admitted. Bear in mind that the claim issue costs have been paid, & DCBL will likely want their money. 1st class post with proof of sending is advisable.

Sorry, what is WP? How much would the claim issue cost? I’ll try to sound like I know what I’m talking about in the letter

            without prejudice

According to the rule if discussions and negotiations are undertaken under the rule of Without Prejudice Save as to Costs, they are admissible when costs are considered by the court. Prior to the costs assessment the communication will keep its Without Prejudice privilege.

What would be a reasonable payment?

                And is this ok?

                Without prejudice
I admit to no liability for the above case referenced, however I would like to make a realistic offer ex gratia of xxxx in order to draw a line under the matter. If you would like to proceed and accept my offer please send details of payment.
