Lowell Court Claim

It's a difficult decision - the case is currently stayed and will remain so indefinitely until Lowell decide to proceed. A settlement plan would at least take the stress out of the situation and allow some control over the timescales. I have heard of situations where people have started payment plans but then been able to offer a reduced lump sum F&F settlement.
"Although scalar fields are Lorentz scalars, they may transform nontrivially under other symmetries, such as flavour or isospin. For example, the pion is invariant under the restricted Lorentz group, but is an isospin triplet (meaning it transforms like a three component vector under the SU(2) isospin symmetry). Furthermore, it picks up a negative phase under parity inversion, so it transforms nontrivially under the full Lorentz group; such particles are called pseudoscalar rather than scalar. Most mesons are pseudoscalar particles." (finally explained to a captivated Celestine by Professor Brian Cox on Wednesday 27th June 2012 )

Thanks, the only thing we haven't had is a copy of any default paperwork - but that isn't mentioned in the claim.

I'm thinking that settlement is probably our last option, this process has given us some breathing space if nothing us

Yes, that is a good way of viewing the situation. They will have to apply to lift the stay and the Covid19 crisis is causing huge delays in the courts, so very little is going to happen quickly. I would continue to request a copy of the default notice even though it is not mentioned in the claim particulars, at the very least it gives you a defensive argument which may prompt them to make a better offer - there is no doubt that the debt purchase industry will be wanting to clear as many accounts outstanding as possible in the current climate.

Well that’s odd, we’ve had a notice of discontinuance in the post!

Wow that's brilliant news, well done you for keeping on top of all the steps needed, in this case persisting with the default notice seems to have unsettled them. We had a case in court recently where lack of DN also resulted in a win for the defendant.
As MIKE770 said, keep copies of that Notice of Discontinuance in a safe place. They may contact you further requesting payment but I'd stick to your guns on the DN.
