On checking my credit file last month, I was shocked to see a CCJ against my name. brought by Lowell on behalf of BT. I had received no correspondence regarding this and the court papers were apparently sent to a previous address.
The debts are dated 2015.* I have never had a BT account in my personal name, although I have been involved with a limited company which used BT lines.** *The company is no longer trading.* How do I find out if I am legally liable for these debts?* Lowell have only given me a BT reference number and the amount owing.
I have been advised that I need to complete N244 form to have this judgment set aside, whilst I try and obtain copies of the original agreements.* I am conscious that this form needs to be submitted asap, but don’t know what I need to file for a defence since I do not have any documentation of the debt and Lowell have only given me basic information.

Indeed, you will need to apply to set aside the judgment to get it removed from the register and your credit file.

To find out more about the debt and account you should send a SAR to BT. If it was in the companies name they should tell you that. If there was some kind of personal guarantee they should tell you that too. Could try giving them ( BT) a call about the account. They have no interest in it since selling it to Lowell - so if they have any info they should be able to tell you if they don't just refer you back to Lowell.

Worth trying to find a bit out before approaching Lowell about setting aside the judgment.

If you've spoken to the court have they, or Lowell, given you the address of where the claim was issued to or in what name? Lowell don't normally do business debt so it's been changed to your personal name at some point.
