So I went into pound land i had a double pram and a 2 year old who tends to run off but forgot her reins. So I put 2 packs of batteries on the top but my son kicked them off and hit my daughter underneath so i put them in my basket underneath fully intending on paying for them. I would have held them but but pushing pram in one hand holding daughter in other. I got a brush my daughter had hold of spend 20 min trying to get around the shop as was busy. Paid for hairbrush and forgot about batteries. Got stopped and brought to back office. Took 2 packs off batteries off menonly worth 2 quid i wouldn't dream stealing 2 quid! Got banned for life and picntaken and had to sign a form and got issued a notice off intended civil recovery. Reading it now it goes on to say about courts getting involved and stuff. Now im scared im single mum off 3 what will happen with my kids if goes to court? Social getting involved? Go to jail? I'm petrified all over 2 quid any advice would be amazing x

Hi Jayne, and welcome.
What will happen is that you will put this horrible incident behind you and enjoy Christmas with your children.
Poundland goons have massively over reacted.
No police involvement so no police record.
You will probably receive a series of letters requesting payment of a sum of money for "all the trouble, inconvenience and costs you have caused Poundland" these letters will be written in pseudo legal language and sound ever so scary.
They are meant to pressure you into paying their charge (it is NOT a fine)
You can see the letters here: https://legalbeagles.info/forums/for...rs-rlp-and-dwf
All you need to do is ignore these letters.
Do not be tempted to respond, because all that does is to encourage them to send more letters.
No one is going to take you to court as there is no case to answer
You are not a thief.
A genuine mistake when distracted by 2 young children is not the basis for any sort of claim.
Dismiss them and relax

Thank you. She said if i ignored the payment police would get involved and it has really worried me
I had 2 twin 6 month babies with me and a 2 year old at the time just feel a complete idiot and so embarrassed being marched to the back of the shop by security.

The police will not be involved.
They weren't involved at the time, and if they had been called out over £2 imagine what they would say!
It is too late for them to be involved and the jackbooted security were only trying (successfully) to frighten you.
Shame on them!
Ignore all demands for payment.
They are attempts to pressure you into paying their unwarranted demands.
Concentrate on your family and have a good Christmas

Yes ignore ... it's quite shameful of Poundland to have actually passed this on ... how on goodness earth can forgetting to pay for £2 worth of batteries and giving them back immediately cost the store £103 ?? Grrrrr. Is the letter from RLP or DWF ? Did you have a look over the examples here https://legalbeagles.info/forums/for...rs-rlp-and-dwf so you know what to expect.#staysafestayhome

They won't go to court.
If for no other reason than it will cost them more than they could ever recover, besides which they would lose anyway.
This is typical scare tactics by this type of company, as seen so often on forums
Just ignore them and they will eventually give up and concentrate on someone else
