  • Urgent! I've received 3 Notice of enforcement's today with 3 days left to pay..

    Hi guys

I've received 3 separate Notice of Enforcement today with only 3 days left to pay at £173 each. All I know is that they relate to PCN notices for driving in a bus lane and the debt was due to the council in September 2018.If I'm correct this has actually been to court!! This makes no sense to me as I've never received the PCN's nor any court letters. I can't understand how that can possibly happen? Can anyone help me understand how this could happen? I receive the odd PCN every few months or so (mostly parking fines, I've had a bus lane one before) and I receive the letter, go online to view the footage or photos and pay them no problem at the reduced rate. I can't understand this at all. How could no paperwork have got to me. All I can think is that it was sent to an old address but surely my perfect credit history can't be destroyed this easily through moving house and not receiving these corresponding letters? I have no problem paying by putting it on a credit card - it's 3 x £173 (although I feel uneasy not having any documents, I don't even know when this happened (it says the day the 'debt was due to the city council' but I doubt that is the date of the bus lane contravention?

I guess I have to pay immediately, but how can I go about investigating this. Can I appeal to the court? How could I find which court it was?

The enforcement came from EQUITA - I've never heard of them.

    Thank in advance

    Claire

I think first step would be to ring the council and ask what these are and where the PCNs were sent to, and court proceedings issued at, as you haven't received anything until this from Equita.

    When did you move house?

Did you update your details with the DVLA ?

It shouldn't hit your credit file as it's not a CCJ ( it's a fine rather than a charge, so criminal rather than civil )

Thank you part of the problem is Manchester City Council have no way of contacting them by phone for anything PCN related (it all has to be via an online form ad a 5 day wait for a reply which I don't have). I don't know the court - I thought I could ring them. Thank you so much about the reassurance on the credit file issue - I just read court and thought it was a CCJ type thing. I'm going to ring the Traffic Enforcement Centre (TEC) people to see what they say. Thanks again - greatly appreciated
