  • Damage to bicycle

The wheel of my bicycle was destroyed by a large jagged peice of steel sticking out of the canal towpath, part of the old canal bank , I know that it is owned by the canal and river trust and it is a public permissible path , which i am entitled to ride on and they encourage cycling on.

The claim will only be £ 50 , its not a fancy bike.

How should I go about this ?

    1. Gather all the available evidence to prove your case.

    2. Write a claim letter to the landowner.

    3. If that does not lead to resolution, make a county court claim. You can start this online.

You didn't notice "a large jagged peice of steel sticking out of the canal towpath"?

You'd best take a photo of it to show that you could not reasonably have seen it
